Roll as you wish but the CV491/OPA627 combination is the one I'm sticking with.

well placed an order for the 627s that were linked back a few pages.   but those are only for 2 of the 4 slots right? is there naother 627 for the other two slots?

Do you use just the tube output or solid state you only need the single OPA627's if you use the solid state output.

Here is a link for the OPA 627 singles if you want them I only use the tube output so you only need the dual OPA627's in U1 and U2

Just rolled in a Philips E80cc SQ Gold Pin and am liking it.  Very dynamic and involving.  Deep soundstage, 3D and instrument separation.  May be a little energy in the upper mids but I need to spend more time with it.  This could be a good tube to put into the rotation.

Decided to do a whole bunch of opamp rolling...some interesting developments. I prefer the OPA2604 in my setup at the moment (with the Siemens Silverplate). I'm expecting to receive a cryogenically-treated Genalex Gold Lion and Psvane tube, which I'll post some impressions on later.

Here's what I found:

NE5532 (stock opamps): Overall, these aren't bad. They're not the best at anything (bass, soundstage, liquidity) but I don't think they have any glaring faults either. Still, they're bested by pretty much all the other opamps, though not by a lot.

OPA2604: Taught, impactful bass. Best imaging. Smooth treble, not as liquid as the (re: drier) 49990 or AD797  but smoother in the highs. The most forgiving opamps, and ones I like to use often.

LME49990: largest soundstage, but imaging not as pin-point as the 2604. Great detail and liquid sound. A tad bit lean and bright. One of my favourites but can be a bit piercing.

LME49720: very similar to the LME49990 but a bit smoother and smaller-sounding.

AD797: Mid-centric sound. The upper mids/lower treble are pronounced. Good soundstage and detail. Not as much attack and upper-bass impact as the 49990, but slightly more forgiving. Good opamps overall, system-dependent.

LT1364: Extended but silky treble, good soundstage but a bit worse than the LME and 797. Overall, very balanced presentation. Definitely worth a try.

LT1469: Same as above but with an even better quality treble, but less bass. Best treble quality but a bit lean-sounding, though great otherwise.

OPA2107: High-energy upfront sound. A bit bright in the lower treble. Great speed and impact.
