They seal really well. I use them when the wife is watching tv and I can barely hear any outside noise, and she cannot hear the music. They don't close out all outside noise but they do a very good job.

My LCD-XC with CF headband on top of Burson Conductor V2. Love this combo!

Nice!  I have the XC and the Burson Conductor V1.  I really feared it was a terrible match until I upgraded the XC cable. Then everything fell into place.  Looks like you may have done the same.

In my experience much of the blame for aggressive highs are solved with better DAC, USB filtering and power conditioning. After all this is taken care of then cables are icing on the cake. :)

I agree - the LCD-XC's are a very transparent and resolving headphone. Feed it with a top notch amp and DAC and they will positively sing.

What cable do you use now?

3C Audio Cardas cable.  I think it's a really solid cable for the money.  A cable shouldn't make that big of difference in the sound but this was night and day with my XC.  Probably not so much because the 3C cable was so good, but because the stock cable is so bad.

I recommend C3 cables as well.  I went with their entry level Canare Star Quads, and have been happy with it.  Been meaning to pick up some cables for my HD800s too, but the stock cable on those aren't as bad as the stock ones for Audeze.

While listening to music, I normally do not prefer high volume; but something in LCD-XC always forces me to gradually increase the volume while listening. With a heavy, visceral and at the same time lively sound, it pulls into the music in a dangerous way.

Hey, has anyone here compared the Z1R to the XC? I don't really care about the weight of either of them, as long as I sit up straight the weight is perfectly bearable for very heavy headphones I have had in the past (LCD-2 aluminum).

Thanks!
