Very interesting. I'm not really in the market --- went from the SE535 to the JH16 pro. But had these been out, I would have given them a hard look. I'm interested to see how they compare to customs in that price range.

As suspected, using the pico slim gets rid of this problem, and also generally drives the jh16 with a ton more authority.Double amping isn't ideal, but the pico slim is such a a clean IEM amp that I'm not detecting any negatives --- only positives from adding it into the loop.

I've been loving the Burson Audio 160DS + LCD-2 combo. Fantastic sound, tons of power, and really stellar PRaT combined with the planar magnetics.   I already loved the NuForce HDP w/ linear power supply + Denon D5000 setup I have at work, but this home setup blows that out of the water.
