AKG K26P - old and new (burn-in and some observations)

Hello. Here are my thoughts about the my new AKG K26P against my old K26P. First of all by "the old" I mean the cans with the old pouch with the zip, the "new ones" are with the pouch, closing by strings. When I first got my "old" AKG's some one year ago I was initialy extremely disapointed...

Hey guys, what's with the new HE90's?

Hi, guys. This would be the first thread started by me. Today I read the Jan Meier's thread about the batch of 18 HE90's.(Excuse my ignorance, I heard about it sometime but after all the price equals my year's salary, so...) So at the end of the thread was stated, that the first of the Senns...

    BUF634P in high bandwidth mode?

Hi. I recently discovered that Jan Meier uses high bandwidth mode for BUF634P in Corda Ha1 Mk II (according to the article on his site). So I made a jumper between V- and BW pins on my buffers (self built PCB for the Corda). The sound (I thin so) became more thin and shrill, there is maybe more...

A little help with Corda Ha1 MkII

Hi. I recently built a Corda Ha1 MkII amplifier exactly according to Jan Meier's instructions and I must say that I'm impresed with it. Thanks again Jan. Very clean sound, no distortions and hum at all. I've made my own design of the PCB and the opamps are on sockets. It's almost there in terms...

Toshiba SD140 - is it worth it??

Hi. I live in Bulgaria and yesterday after going to the local electronics shop I saw a Toshiba SD140 DVD player. On the front there was "24 bit 192kHz high quality audio" written. Is that model comparable to the already famous (in Head-Fi ) Toshiba SD4900 and 3750 (or something like that). I...

Electrolytic capacitors in Corda power supply

Sorry for the stupid question, but would 16V electrolytic capacitors (3300uF and 2200uF) suffice for the power supply of the Corda Ha1 mkII? According to the schematic one of the capacitos is between +15V and gnd and the other between -15V and gnd. Am I right? I don't want to blow the caps or...

    Proper PCB layout?

Hi. i was wondering what YOU as a DIYers think is a proper PCB layout - especially for headphone amplifier. Questions like: How you route the input signals to the potentiometer? Should I avoid routing signals under a toroidal transformer (power supply)? Which are the elements that cause most...

    Small values capacitors

Hi. I am having difficulties finding polystyrol or polystyrene capacitors in the 10pF - 47pF range. They are used in the Jan Meier's design of Corda Ha1 MkII - 10 pF and 47pF. I could only find 47pF WIMA capacitors at Reichelt (German online electronic shop) only later they told they don't ship...

Questions about building Corda HA1 MkII

Hi. I'm new to the world of headphone amplifier building and currently trying to build a Corda HA1 MkII. I've already ordered the parts and have several questions regarding building this amp. Any answers are welcome. 1. What is a star grounding and most particularly how do I implement it on a...

    Enhanced bass for DT880?

Hi. I'm trying to build a Corda HA1 myself and was wondering whether I should build the enhanced bass or the normal crossfeed version. I have Beyer DT880 phones and am definitely not a BassHead. Thanks in advance.
