'Cable down' alternative to Westone UM3x ???
I am looking for reasonably cheap (under £100/$150) IEMs that can easily be plugged and unplugged (from ear) while playing poker. The Westones are just too fiddly and my ATH-ES7 is too bulky. I love the Westone sound and want to get as close to it as possible but I can't afford silly money...- Jolly Bodger

LD DAC 1 or DacMagic
System: Computer > Foobar > SPDIF > DAC? > Little Dot MkIVse > HD650 I need another DAC to replace my Arcam rDAC (moved to another system) - I would have considered another rDAC but I'm on my third in ten months after problems with the first two so while I love Arcam gear and use it in my...- Jolly Bodger

New Valves???
I have owned my LD MkIV SE (my 1st tube amp) for about 6 months now and apart from some initial problems (crackle & hiss - David replaced it and it is now audio bliss) I would like to get some spare tubes and I also fancy trying a bit of tube rolling. Reading a bit about various tubes it...- Jolly Bodger

Little Dot Mkiv SE - possible problem? Update and first impressions
Well I've finally got it all plugged in can't find my 1.5mm allen key to tighten the knob but it appears and sounds as if all is well. Setup is: PC > FLAC > Foobar > WASAPI > S/PDIF > Arcam rDAC > Little Dot MKIV SE > Senn HD650 The rDAC and LD are brand new, HD650 have a few hours...- Jolly Bodger

Little Dot Mkiv SE - possible problem? Update and first impressions
I've just got my LD today. DHL have had in the warehouse overnight at -7 degrees so unpacking it there were signs of condensation so I'm waiting 24 hours before powering it up. The possible problem is the 20-30 degrees of radial loose play on the volume control. Obviously I won't really...- Jolly Bodger

Upgrade - but what to?
I originally posted this on the 'Computer Audio' section but maybe it's better here! Problem: I used to listen to my music via my hi-fi (Linn/Arcam etc) when my wife was at work with no neighbours I could rattle the windows with no complaints. She has retired so now I’m listening more to...- Jolly Bodger

Sorry I wasn't thinking - yes I could buy off the forum I hadn't really thought about that. I must admit I thought I'd get a bit more response than this! I think I'll add this thread on the 'Amps' section. JB- Jolly Bodger

Problem: I used to listen to my music via my hi-fi (Linn/Arcam etc) when my wife was at work with no neighbours I could rattle the windows with no complaints. She has retired so now I’m listening more to computer sourced music on headphones as she isn’t into my music. My current setup...- Jolly Bodger

Considering HD650
Thanks for the info. Saber - I look forward to your findings. Winma - thanks for the link - looks like I need to consider getting an amp as well! Hmmm... more decisions - which amp pairs well with the HD650? Must admit I've always had a fancy for a valve amp maybe a Little Dot...- Jolly Bodger

Considering HD650
I’m considering getting a pair of Senn HD650s. Couple of questions: 1. How do they compare with the ATH-A900 sound signature wise? 2. Will an Ibasso D10 drive them OK for now? – I will be upgrading the computer setup in the near future. JB- Jolly Bodger

Custom Sleeves For Westone UM3x
Can anyone who has had this done please in the UK please let me know what problems they've had if any. I'm still thinking of asking ACS to make some custom sleeves for my UM3x. They are no longer listed as suitable. After e-mailing them I got this response: Hi Brian, The reason why we...- Jolly Bodger

Custom Sleeves for Westone UM3x
Hi Soundmangt4 - has your friend got them back yet? What does he think of them? Good fit? Sound Quality etc? I'm now unsure whether to contact ACS and try and press them to do mine but if your friend is happy with them I might take the risk. JB- Jolly Bodger

Does it really matter which portable music player you use?
I've been listening to hi-fi in various forms for many years and early on in my hobby (late 70s) I was always told crap in = crap out so stick to lossless. I use FLAC it's good enough for Linn. JB- Jolly Bodger
