Oppo Sonica DAC (an affordable ES9038PRO Sabre DAC)
Got my SDAC last Friday. I am very happy with it. I haven't listened much through headphones because I was enjoying my system so much. Watt/Puppy Jeff Rowland amp n pre. It's the the most analog sounding DAC I've had in my system. Violins are beautiful and listenable for hours w/o fatigue. I...- tomjtx

Apogee Groove Dac / Headphone Amp
Just got my Apogee Grove. It drives my AKG 701 with ease. Ditto my various IEMs. Zero complaints here. I only wish I had known about the Adorama bundle.- tomjtx

O2 Build Complete: Let the objective, subjective listening tests commence!
SobbingWallet, mikeaj and Willakan, Thanks for doing all the heavy lifting with such articulate and well reasoned responses to cheapskate audio. Now all I have to say is: "what they said" :-)- tomjtx

O2 Build Complete: Let the objective, subjective listening tests commence!
Quote: This sounds like 'bad amp karma" :=) After all, you have done everything to this amp that Voldemort said was unnecessary to do. Indeed, he designed the amp to demonstrate that all your mods are a waste of time and money. It has been entertaining though, and we thank...- tomjtx

So, the Objective2 headphone amp - designed entirely around the measurements? (PLEASE READ RULES BEFORE POSTING)
Yes, but everyone will just say the shoebox degraded the sound of both amps so the comparison is invalid.- tomjtx

RSA F-117 Nighthawk Phono Preamp Impressions and Appreciation Thread
Well, my Nighthawk has over a 100 hrs on it now and is sounding great. I'm too busy listening to go into all the audiophile detail ...............OK.................I'm lazy :-) I urge anyone considering a phono stage to give this a try. I have heard way more expensive stages I don't like...- tomjtx

RSA F-117 Nighthawk Phono Preamp Impressions and Appreciation Thread
Try a Hagerman riaa board. Put any line source into it and it converts it to a phono equalized signal. Run it 24/7 till your burned in. Less wear on your needle too. However I'm not having any downs with this. My listening didn't end till 1:00am and it still sounds great.- tomjtx

RSA F-117 Nighthawk Phono Preamp Impressions and Appreciation Thread
Well I'm 3 days in now and this thing is still impressing me. Piano sounds great, none of that pinging you sometimes get with lesser SS gear. Thank goodness for spring break, we professors get it too :-) Back to listening- tomjtx

RSA F-117 Nighthawk Phono Preamp Impressions and Appreciation Thread
Larry, Try increasing your tracking force. That sometimes is the cause of fuzziness in the highs. You may find that does the trick. Too low a tracking force can actually be more damaging to vinyl than too high TF. Sounds like your vinyl guys may not be the best around ;-( Audio Circle's...- tomjtx

OK Robin brought the F-117 over Sat. for a listen. I have a Sonic Frontiers SFP-1 Signature. The Nighthawk does quite well in comparison, well enough in fact that I PP'd the money to Ray today in the hopes he will send one out Mon. :-) I am also going to upgrade/recap the SFP1 but I'm not...- tomjtx
