San Jose Ca. Mini-Meet
Cool, I am very interested in a mini-meet. I'm going to be in the bay area for 10 weeks during the summer, and it looks like I should be there during this weekend. I am finalizing the dates I will be there in the next week so I will be able to commit for sure soon, but for now I'd hope to make...- ian

New Karma Firmware Released!
My have just fixed gapless at a few strange bitrates or strange cases. I never noticed problems with gapless playback before (mainly use FLAC and high VBR mp3's though), but any fixes are welcomed.- ian

iRiver Responds to user requests!!!
Now if they could only add FLAC support...the first portable hard drive player with a digital out and FLAC (or other lossless, just not WAV) will be a BIG deal to me. And of course gapless playback. I might even buy two if they could just add FLAC!- ian

Best portable cd player for transport (or very small transport)
Anyone try using a portable DVD player for this? Thinking that might be cool so I can listen to DVD's through my system as well. For $250 this APEX portable w/ 6.5" screen and optical out looks interesting: http://www.jandr.com/JRProductPage.p...uct_Id=3719192- ian

Best portable cd player for transport (or very small transport)
I am looking for a very small transport for use at a desk with a Sostenuto-1 PDAC (so optical or coax out is fine). Right now I am leaning towards a portable cd player route since they are cheap and easy. One of my concerns is usability. I want something easy to use with decent sized...- ian

Gilmore Lite Kit - Review
I wish I knew, still waiting for the enclosure...Justin ran out. I did put it in a cardboard box and mount all the jacks - that was pretty easy though.- ian

National LM4908 headphone amp.
Sal, MP3 players don't use chips like these - they still suck up way too much power and take up too much space. They generally use one-chip solutions that include the DAC, headphone amp, controls, USB interface, DC / battery level stuff, LCD controller, memory interface, etc. An example is the...- ian

Rumors of 4th gen iPod
Diminished battery life is a common misconception with color screens. There are color screens that take up less power than grayscale screens with a backlight. It's just a matter of finding one of the appropriate dimensions.- ian

Does the Sonica get unstable when unloaded?
The Sonica was the first thing I soldered...ever. Just give it a try. Buy some desolder wick to suck up excess solder if you need it. Just play around with the solder with the iron if you do manage to bridge it, it's actually very easy to fix. Not a problem at all. Just do it!- ian

Hi, After a long departure from a serious headphone system I've come back and as part of my system ordered the Gilmore Lite kit from headamp.com. I needed the kit by a deadline so that I could put it together while I was on vacation (yeah, thats an awesome vacation). Justin was able to work...- ian
