XBA-C10: Sony's Colorful, Low-Priced BA
Did the cables break? If so, how long have you had them? They seem pretty sturdy to me. Again, I really like these. Great noise blockage, great non-bloated sound for the price.- tman1

Crossfeed puts some of each side's signal in the other side (it's adjustable). I'd say a more accurate description is that it compresses the soundstage rather than actually makes it sound like normal speakers, since the sound is still inside your head (and even moreso with crossfeed) and not in...- tman1

I use the Cover Art Downloader app, which puts the cover art in the album folder and also has an option to embed it into the id3 tag for MP3s. My issue was that the cover art images were appearing next to the folder names in Neutron and on the Neutron widget on the home screen, but not in...- tman1

How do you figure out which Q, Width, Cutoff, etc. values to use on the equalizer? I messed with the frequency sliders (not easy on the phone screen BTW) and am pretty happy with the sound but am always willing to learn better ways to tweak sound options- tman1

I do. As noted above, my issues were trying to get the player to play nice with my comps. The Sort By Filename option in the long-press on a folder will ensure that I pay for the app when my trial is up. For Replay Gain did you have to normalize, or some other way encode the Replay values...- tman1

?? "Crossfeed is the process of blending the left and right channels of a stereo audio recording. It is generally used to reduce the extreme channel separation often featured in early stereo recordings (e.g., where instruments are panned entirely on one side or the other), or to make audio...- tman1

Not entirely. From the Neutron site: Q: What does Crossfeeding feature do? A: Crossfeeding is the special technique which mixes some frequencies of Left and Right channels of stereo music together. Crossfeeding must be used with headphones only and its goal is to simulate stereo perception...- tman1

That is confusing since I thought Neutron was made specifically for Android mobile devices. I'm guessing that is a typo and the "and" should be removed. Just spent some time on the Neutron site and it does appear that 64 bit should be superior, at least with mp3 files which was all I was...- tman1

Does turning on the 64 bit toggle help with any type of file? Not sure what that does and just wondering if I'm getting placebo syndrome. I mostly use MP3s. Also does it work with phones? Maybe this description from the website is out of date?? "32/64-bit HD Rendering Uses 32/64-bit...- tman1

In the Media Library settings section in Neutron there are toggles for "Ignore Wav Metadata" and "Split Album by Path" which I would think would help do what I need but turning them on separately or together did not help. EDIT: FOUND IT! From the Neutron forums: --- Re: How can I get...- tman1

Android: Neutron Music Player
I'll probably eventually try it since so many people use it but it gets mixed reviews on sound quality. In addition to Rockbox I found an app called "Beam Player" whose main purpose is to play from folders so I may try that as well, although I have no idea about how it sounds. There is...- tman1

OK thanks. It would be great to know if anyone has a home-made compilation that shows up correctly. I assume I can get it to point to the Music folder directly, but the main, large, problem for me is that it is NOT a true folder view, where the tags are ignored and it shows the folder name and...- tman1

Thanks for the help but it's not working for me. Thanks for the confirmation, but man that stinks. I was hoping it was me. Hard to believe that it can't do this. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted but I can't pay for a player that can't navigate using folders. So what is the best-sounding player that supports folder navigation...- tman1

I've been trying Neutron and it sounds great but I don't see a way to navigate using actual folders, without tags, even where it says "Folders". Neutron vs. Rockbox for Android in SQ only.
I'm glad to see that a phone's stock audio quality can be improved, but how does this happen? Is it just that you can bump up the frequencies that a particular phone is lacking in? For instance this is the FR for the Moto X (just ordered one). I assume bumping the low and high freqs where it...- tman1

Sony A729 vs. Clip Zip (Rockboxed)
I recently lost my rb'ed Clip Zip (and Sony armature IEMs, and 64GB SD card ). I had meant to compare it to my trusty old A729 but hadn't gotten around to it. Using the A729 now with the included ("hi-fi") headphones and it sounds great (better than I remember the Clip to sound), although they...- tman1
