Ferrum Audio ERCO - Headphone DAC/Amp

I am living in Turkey, and I have bought in 2022 October. I will wait first impressions from some upgraded Erco units, then will decide if it will worth to send. I already like it's current sound. I will only send if there is clear improvements. So I hope someone can share their impressions here.

Need a protective case for my Erco DAC/AMP

I need a protective carrying case for my desktop DAC/AMP, waterproof for some degree is preferred. DAC is Ferrum Erco, dimensions: (WxDxH) 21.7 cm x 20.6 cm x 5 cm / 8.6” x 8.1” x 2.0”. Do you know any good ones with customizable inner parts?

Ferrum Audio ERCO - Headphone DAC/Amp

Did you update Hypsos and Erco to the latest firmwares available on Ferrum's support page? But even after updates, it's better to use with a computer. (And download ASIO driver from Ferrum Support page for Erco if you use with a Windows computer) Yes it's working with smart phones and it will...

Ferrum Audio ERCO - Headphone DAC/Amp

Hey guys, do you think that I can get any benefit from a galvanic isolator for Erco? I have a chance to get Intona 7054-X-DK (used), which is a USB 2.0 galvanic isolator. And I am using Erco with my laptop which has USB 3.0 ports by the way is it meaningless to get a USB 2.0 isolator?

    Marantz HD-DAC1

I started to be skeptical about that you have a dozen HD DAC1 and you are trying to sell them Just joking :k701smile: I got Ferrum Erco and keeping Marantz at the same time will be a little luxury for me, that is why I listed it (in a local website in Turkey) to sell but at the same time I am...

    Marantz HD-DAC1

Thank you for your feedback. I don't care measurements so much actually, I care mostly people's feedbacks :) I will not "measure" equipment with my ears, I will listen them and I am in this hobby to enjoy my music not to measure it. If a perfect measuring device sounds dull and lifeless or if I...

    Marantz HD-DAC1

So you have both of them right? How can you define sound difference? I have HD DAC1 but also was thinking to buy RME (later I changed my mind). I know RME is more modern and have lots of features loaded but curious to learn sound difference only.

Ferrum Audio ERCO - Headphone DAC/Amp

You can find a Windows PC and upgrade Erco's firmware, then you can try with those devices again. May be it can fix your problem but I am not hopeful. Because in my case, it solved my problem on PC usage (as firmware update was for that reason) but it did not help problems with cell phone...

Ferrum Audio ERCO - Headphone DAC/Amp

That update was to fix Windows USB driver problem so normally you don't need to update for a MAC. And Erco support page says "Download Firmware with Windows updater" So I understand you only have a chance to update firmware from a Windows PC.

That's good so finally they solved it. When the update will be available for everyone? Did they give a time?

Ferrum Audio ERCO - Headphone DAC/Amp

I think the thing is putting something between USB port of computer and Erco. In my case putting UH 720 solved the problem. But it did not work for you. By the way, are you using UH 720 with it's power adapter or without it? I am using without it's AC power adapter.

I tried with and without ASIO driver, it's same. I don't have a MAC or Linux.

@thingwfeathers By the way is your music still pausing while using USB hub? I am using TP Link UH 720 as USB hub and I don't have any pause or any kind of sound distortion with it. Just a side note.

I see so please contact Ferrum support and let them to know issue, because they told me if they will get similar issues from other users may be they can consider a FW upgrade. I think it's a software (firmware) level issue.

    Marantz HD-DAC1

I mostly compared headphone outs but also I compared (not very critical listening actually but I have some idea) both by connecting them to my only standalone AMP (Soncoz SGA -1), when I do that as I recall from my mind, the difference is getting lower even I can say no difference... So yes for...

    Marantz HD-DAC1

I bought a Ferrum Erco recently, Erco has more power (thanks to it's balanced design), more functions (can be connected to a fully balanced AMP, supports MQA full decode and rendering which is a good plus for me), a very light weight in compare to HD-DAC1, more smaller form factor.. But when it...
