Speaker's only guy looking for help on a first balanced can
Quote: AD900 looks much better than the AD700 in bass extension and upper mids/lower treble. It also doesn't have that nasty spike at 10 khz. Still bass looks relatively weak and rolled off compared to the mids/highs. Hd598 looks good until sub bass.- JayB18

The Beyerdynamic DT250 Thread
I'm curious about the 250 ohm version but don't really feel the need to get it since I am more than happy with the 80 ohm version. I also only have an Essence STX and an mp3 player and I don't think they would be good enough for the 250 ohm version. Has anyone compared the HD598 to the DT250...- JayB18

Closed All Arounders
I'd recommend the Beyerdynamic DT250 if looking for something easier to drive and more balanced than the DT770. The Shures are good too.- JayB18

AD700 for $100 = good deal?
Its not bad but for close to the same price you can get better. No midbass hump and lack of sub bass make them sound thin and weak with a lot of stuff. MS-1 or DT440 are better and can be bought around the same price.- JayB18

[Short Review] ATH-AD700 vs. MS-1
Quote: Neither the AD700 and AD900 are not known for there bass. AD900 is a bit better in this regard though. Something like the Beyerdynamic DT440 would be better suited sounding better than the MS-1 and AD700 imo. Soundstage isn't as large as the Audio Technicas but they have a...- JayB18

Is there anything better then the AT M50's?
The M50s don't lack bass. Its boosted over all the other frequencies so saying you don't want to get used to the lack of bass means to me you want something really bassy. The sony xb500/700 or q40 get recommended here for that. Personally more bass isn't indicative of better sound quality but...- JayB18

The Beyerdynamic DT250 Thread
Quote: The bass is slightly boosted on the 80 ohm version and treble is rolled off a bit more compared to the 250 ohm from what I have read on here. On Headphonic people claim they sound the same and the difference in sound is due to how amps handle different impendences which could be...- JayB18

Headphones to listen rock\metal after HD598
Beyer DT440 or MS-1. AD900 might be ok too if you don't mind less bass than the HD598.- JayB18

Sennheiser HD 598 Impressions Thread
Has anybody hear heard the AD900 or DT440 and HD598. Im looking for an open phone that is more or less on the same level as them but with a better balanced response (more bass than the AD900 and less treble than the DT440). Something along the lines of an open DT250 is what im after.- JayB18

Need Suggestions
Open: DT440, HD598, or AD900 (though theses are a bit light on bass) Closed: DT250 (80 ohm version is probably easier to drive if only using the Cowon. Treble is a bit laid back)- JayB18

The Beyerdynamic DT250 Thread
Quote: The graphs make me want to try the 250 ohm version but I do not have an amp which is why I went with the 80 ohm version when I bought it. I kind of agree the DT440 are a bit bright but I still like them more then the MS-1, HD555 and AD700 so they are my open can of choice at the...- JayB18

The Beyerdynamic DT250 Thread
The graphs for the 2 phones are nearly identical minus the 3-4db midbass hump and treble rolloff around 12-13000hz on the 80 ohm version. Is this more or less what you are hearing between the 2? I have the 80 ohm version and i am more than happy with it. They get more use than any other phone...- JayB18

The Beyerdynamic DT250 Thread
The graphs look very similar on the 80 ohm and 250 are very close overall minus the slight midbass hump below 500hz and slightly rolled off treble somewhere above 10,000hz. 500hz to 10000hz is very close. I wonder how much of the difference in graphs has to do with positioning and the amp they...- JayB18

The Beyerdynamic DT250 Thread
I have the 80 ohm version and I love them. They seem a bit dark in the highs at times but sometimes that can be a good thing. Im not sure if I like the DT250 or DT440 more. There my 2 favorite headphones regardless though,- JayB18

The ATH-AD900 Thread
Quote: DT250 has less soundstage and treble and a little more bass. They have a sound that doesn't instantly wow (there a bit laid back and smooth but not boring) but grows on you over time. They sound good with just about anything like the DT440. The DT440 and 250 are my 2 favorite...- JayB18

The ATH-AD900 Thread
Quote: I really like the DT440. Better soundstage than the MS-1, better bass impact/extension and midrange than the AD700, and better treble than the HD555. They really don't get enough support around here. My only issue is the comfort isn't the greatest. From what I read the HD598 will...- JayB18

under $200 headphones for home listening that fall between AD700s and HD-25 II
Beyerdynamic DT 440. Nice wide open spacious sound but with noticeably better bass impact and extension than the AD700 and more treble energy then the Sennheisers.. Mids are also more forward. Soundstage is smaller overall but separation and individual instrument separation is better. Only...- JayB18
