Active speakers - DAC out - Volume control?
Ok thanks guys. One thing I'm wondering - at what point (using the volume dial with the preamp out) will the preamp out start to be 'hotter' than the DAC out? Or is it something like 1% of the total output?- Volta

Active speakers - DAC out - Volume control?
Hi, The situation- I use Foobar2000, run via USB into a Audio-GD Compass. I plan to add a Blue Sky 2.1 active monitoring speaker system. Two Q's - 1. The Compass' DAC output is RCA. Will RCA - XLR cables connected to the monitors work ok? 2. There is no universal...- Volta

Hi guys, so my PRO900s just died... (see other thread) Got some KSC75s for now, but looking to get some main cans soon as I won't be able to use any speakers in my new living space. Using - foobar2000 to an Audio-gd Compass (using built in amp). Listen mainly to electronic music...- Volta

PRO900 bit the dust --- franken-replacement drivers
So, as above! Right PRO900 driver has died (definitely the driver, not the cables etc). It would be a shame to let the gorgeous casing go to waste, but I was never THAT impressed with the pro900s to be honest. Required too much EQ to bring the resonance down (for my taste). I have no...- Volta

Check this out- PRO 900s with a flat-ish high end! I know what you're thinking... no high-end, no fun? I say, no sibilance, LOTS MORE FUN! I've largely left the lively bass alone, but the highs are now silky smooth...lovely.- Volta

Headphones for TRANCE music!
Just like to update this thread- In the end, settled with an AudioGD Compass DAC/Amp and a pair of ULTRASONE Pro900s. Using a parametric eq to eliminate the sibilance, and TB_Isone to expand the soundstage. Highly recommend this setup!!! Thanks for the help. :) (btw, My...- Volta

What are the bassiest analytical headphones in the market?
Quote: If you're looking for big bass from the M50, especially unamped, then you'll be disappointed. It has good low extension however. The high-end of those two couldn't be much more different. The M50's high end is quite abrasive and unforgiving, whereas the k81's is soft and gooey.- Volta
