Obscure Chinese DAPs
Hey, I haven't followed the thread in its entirety, but I've seen that the QNGEE x2 has a low output impedance. Is there a source on this? Also, has anyone done any comparisons with it? I'm particularly interested in this, Shanling M0 and Sansa clips- bellsprout

How do we know if something is actually "neutral"?
neutral isn't just flat frequency response. headphones/loudspeakers are mechanical devices that re-creates sound from the movement of a resonating speaker cone. the output sound signal is an approximation of the input electrical signal at best. neutral would mean the input and output waveforms...- bellsprout

Quote: what's the difference between listening to an $800 USB cable and thinking that it's much better than a regular cable and listening to a $1000 DAC and thinking it sounds much better than an ODAC? because u know for a fact that USB cables don't make a difference? well, the USB cable...- bellsprout

I Don't Understand You Subjective Guys
well, any amp/dac that aren't misconceived sound the same to me so i spend actually listen to music than my equipment. and as for audio being a ****ty hobby, that depends. i obviously don't get the enjoyment of rainbows and unicorns when listening to uber expensive stuff, but that doesn't mean i...- bellsprout

I Don't Understand You Subjective Guys
there may be aspects of hearing we can't measure yet, but we can measure sound. sound is a wave. waves are purely mathematical. unless u think there's a branch of maths that we don't fully understand yet that is required to characterise a wave, u should re-evaluate ur "there may be things we...- bellsprout

Quote: yet people do the same with opamps, and they have published open loop distortion figures. their implementation into the circuit is (should be) extensively measured, so even if it's a cheap opamp to begin with, changing it, even for a more expensive opamp, will probably decrease...- bellsprout

Don't get why "Audiophile" USB Cable would improve sound quality
Quote: this not only goes against the principle of hi-fi, but also puts consumers in an unenviable position when manufacturers can get away with peddling anything under the sun for any amount of money. it also creates the illusion that manufacturers are somehow "above" objective design...- bellsprout

Dilemma: Should I not believe any reviewers who talk about cables or just ignore that section of their review?
the facts that were presented were: 1. cables don't introduce distortion. this is true, as an LCR circuit can't. 2. cables multiply distortion. true, but it multiplies everything. it can't differentiate between what's signal and what's distortion. it simply does a frequency dependent...- bellsprout

The Hopelessly Derailed ODAC/Objective DAC Anticipation/Discussion Thread
and yet Currawong was attempting to objectify these differences. and the hypothesis that "complex music" requires voltages to rise faster is false. you only need to open a music track and a 20kHz sine wave in Audacity to see which voltage rises faster. i find the subjective position to...- bellsprout

duno where to start whether any powered component in existence doesn't exceed the maximum slew rate required for audio, or the fact u think the required rate is dependent on the number of frequencies or density of frequencies present and not the maximum frequency Quote:- bellsprout

no i mean Time invariant because if the output is only input dependent then any non linearities will be revealed by testing with the right input signal and u dont have to wait around to see it happen Quote:- bellsprout
