April Music Eximus DP-1
I still use mine directly connected to my computer along with a set of original LCD-2s. I really like the combo and while I have been on the verge of jumping on a tube amp and newer headphones, listening to good music on what I already have has stopped me from spending the money.- Mastad0n

Best recorded albums of all time?
+1 on the Steely Dan "Aja". The mastering on that album was well done. I'll have to look into the Tom Petty album as well. I'm a fan, but don't happen to have "Damn the Torpedoes." -
Best recorded albums of all time?
I picked up the digital remaster of DSOTM based on recommendations in this thread and I find it more impressive than the original release of The Wall. I don't have have a remastered copy of The Wall for an apples-to-apples comparison, though. -

Margin of diminishing returns?? Do $200 headphones sound "the same" as >$500, or $1000 headphones? (assuming proper amplification)
Headphones are like motorcycles. Everyone has their own perspective on how good a certain model is. My recommendation would be to listen to a few models from other makers and make that decision for yourself. You may be satisfied with the $200 headphones or you could walk away from a store...- Mastad0n

Headphone Recommendations for EDM? (Sub-$200)
+1 on the DT990 Pro 250 recommendation. The Beyerdynamic seems a perfect match if you enjoy the driving bass lines in EDM.- Mastad0n

Where do I start
IrradFish, although I think the Grado sr80i is a pretty good introductory set of headphones (they started me on my head-fi journey), I wouldn't say they are the best for extended listening. Those headphones sit on your ear rather than over them and after about 25 minutes of listening to them, I...- Mastad0n

New to headphones
I agree completely with superjawes. When I first decided to improve my headphones, I had a department store model of Koss cans that I was not satisfied with. I bought the Grado sr80i which improved my listening experience immensely. Most recently, I upgraded from those to the Audeze LCD-2r2...- Mastad0n

LCD2 cables in the $100-200 range
+1 to making your own. I wish I had researched that option prior to purchasing a replacement for my stock LCD-2 cable.
