    [Linux] MPD vs Amarok

Using something like this in mpd.conf should make sure that the output is bit-perfect: Code: audio_output { type "alsa" name "My ALSA Device" # device "hw:0,1" # optional format "44100:16:2" # optional } I don't believe that two different players, configured to use alsa in the same way...

recommend a foobar-like player for ubuntu

My replacement for Foobar ended up being Sonata, an MPD client. Perhaps it doesn't compare to Foobar (or Amarok for that matter) in terms of features, but it does the main thing -- managing playlists and playing music -- very well It's also very fast and resource efficient, nice to look at...

    The Placebo Effect

What I'm saying is just common sense: what is consciously perceived is just a tip of the iceberg... You don't perceive the hormonal regulation inside your own body, for example, it is nevertheless very real.
