    Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread

Go with hd660s. Or any new sennheiser with 's' suffix for that matter. Both older hd700 /hd800 can be better hps in long run but require considerable investment. New gen senns are lot more 'budding audiophile' friendly.

    Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread

I have not heard the song you are mentioning. But hd700 is particularly adept at resolving subtle dynamic shifts in music. If a drummer takes his time in hitting next note, it comes across quiet clearly. I suggest you evaluate it further. Hd600 cannot touch it in this aspect. Hd600 has other...

Why should low notes on piano be harder to hear? It depends on musician and his emotional state of mind. If he hits low notes with fervor, there is no reason why they would be harder to hear.

Hd700 is a tough nut to crack. Hd600 is much easier to like. You can make hd700 s bass tight and mids upfront while maintaining airy nature. You will need different electronics/chain. That will require exponentially higher expenses compared to hd600 and what it can do with most electronics.

When I initially bought hd700, i also preferred my akg k550 cause I was used to its colouration. And I didn't had the chain that made them the way i want. Now that I have the chain, hd700 can easily make listeners emotional. Biggest compliment I can give them. And so can my el8 or dita...

Cool. Good to have some impressions. I don't read measurements and graphs but those published by dekoni show less mid recession and same treble peak. Less mid recession should result in less air. But it should bring instruments in better focus. Anyways i like build quality of dekoni pads...

    New Burson Conductor - V2 and V2+

Amount of power available to how loud it gets are not directly related. Grace m9xx has high powered and low powered modes, both are equally loud cause of same gain. You get better control over drivers in high power mode. Sl vs cv2 should be hard to separate cause of similar tone. You do have...

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

I would get 660s if I followed that review. Review clearly states you can make it sound like hd600 or hd650, which means greater transparency and system dependence. Can you make 650 sound like hd600 or vice versa? You cannot, even via system matching. Their inherent colouration and limitations...

The other girl mightve got them for the looks. They do look very cool. Much more so than any fashion hps.

Tubes are not driving the hps. Transistor is doing it. Tube is in input stage. Thats why its possible to have 0.5 ohm output impedance.

    Focal Clear headphones

System matching has always been a difficult and expensive exercise. Availability of measurement has not made things any easier. With introduction of mojo, hugo etc ppl assume its least distortion so should be the best for every situation. They don't go on a journey to find best synergy, most...

True. To get immersed first you have to have the right mindset. At the same time your system should be capable of twisting your hand into give up critical listening. Try critical listening with new Sennheiser Orpheus. I am not saying its impossible, some people I know even dissected that...

    Focal Clear headphones

Believable, as in a system should completely disappear leaving me completely immersed in music. Modern recordings have all the information to create this illusion effortlessly. Thats what I want to achieve with a system. I am afraid my mojo standalone falls short of this by a good distance...

Yes having less distortion is desirable. And no I am not looking for more distortion. My listening test proves otherwise. Better amp section gives a more believable presentation, more mind blowing moments. More justification of why the hps cost so much. So I am in favour of using quality...

    Focal Clear headphones

I am a mojo user since about a year. Have auditioned a friends hugo 2. I think chord dacs are nicely resolving. Very good quality. But their hp driving ability is very overrated. Their amp stages are kept very simple so to use minimum parts keeping in mind their dac role. They are good for the...

You need both clear and utopia driven at their 100% potential to hear differences according to price. Electronics play a big role in this. Hugo 2 alone won't do justice to Utopia. Thats why its important to balance your system with electronics and hps as far as your budget is concerned.

Interesting you picked up hd700 again. Are you still using it with mojo? I have never used sonarworks but does it enhance feeling of being there in the audience? Hd700 is a soundstage depth oriented hp. Once you listen to it carefully you will realize it has more depth than any other hp...

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

Hd5xx series isn't something you can use for a long time. You will likely want to upgrade the moment you will purchase it and hear it. Hd650 should be a minimum for long term music satisfaction. Imo of course. But best would be if you could budget for a Nighthawk, so I feel.

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

Why not to get Nighthawk ? You will have full audioquest system which is advisable due to synergy issues. Dfr will be able to do justice to Nighthawk easily.

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

I like unique design language that chord products have. At least they have some character. Would always choose something like this over plain looking. I am disappointed by the color choices they offer. Some years ago I used to like everything in black. But thats no longer the case. I would...

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

Yup. Sennheiser said that so I would follow that here. Blanket statements about burn in are pointless. Some manufacturers do recommend burn in for particular models.

Maybe brain burn in with driver burn in combined has some effect. Hp companies themselves recommend burn in hrs at time. I have no idea why would anyone dispute recommendations by the manufacturer themselves. When you buy a new motor bike, do you disregard rpm limits that manufacturer has...
