Just wondering what the headfi budget slant is about? I think JDS offerings are great.

I've not seen chatter anywhere about the tube style effect this amp does with adjustable harmonics. Does anyone have experience with it in general and specifically how is the "tube" sound? Is this remotely comparable to the Garage1217 Project Polaris which is solid state faking a tube style...

Last year I heard a Music Streamer HD. It did something different than every other dac I've heard and I still don't know what it was.    It took the sound stage and instead of a left to right playing in front of me experience, it sat me with the band and enveloped me in around the head 3D...

These cost roughly the same and seem to be considered very highly within their price category. I'd love to hear impressions and considerations from owners.    Running to Project Polaris > HD600 (possibly 800S in the future).

If so, what is appreciably different?  Looking at the Teac UD-301 while it has a $100 rebate.

I would rather have small headphones of some kind that the 2DS can actually power well enough.   Emphasis on cheap. I know, I know, at that kind of price it's just junk...but I want the best junk for my money.  ;)   Let's say nothing above $35

I wrote asking when HD600/700 might be in stock and received the reply that Sennheiser was no longer carried.    This is horribly irritating as I was rather looking forward to the reasonable discount.    What other websites DO carry Sennheiser that are lower than MSRP? 

Am I going crazy or did something in the 2.4 firmware (from this month) change the sound quality for the better? Specifically, I feel that instrument separation improved dramatically. I've loaded every other firmware as they have been released and never noted an actual improvement in quality...
