In such cases more help is possible only if you provide more information (computer specs, HQPlayer settings). See https://www.head-fi.org/threads/hqplayer-impressions-and-settings-rolling-thread.968141/post-18106669- bogi

That can happen with incorrectly implemented 48k DSD support in some DACs when [x] 48k DSD is checked. Some DACs don't refuse to play content sent them at 48k DSD rates but they play it at a slower rate in ratio 44.1/48, since they don't switch the base clock as needed when DSD output is...- bogi

The Desktop version 5.7.0 contains a memory allocation bug and hence the setting of 8 to workaround it. That bug does not add to CPU utilization, it just eats RAM unnecessarily. It is present if you have enabled Matrix pipeline processing, regardless on using DAC corrections or not. Setting to 8...- bogi

Current Spring 3 and May are using linear compansation solution, which is not present in Cyan 2. For example Spring 3 description states: "New linear compensation tech achieves 0.00005% equivalent accuracy by eliminating resistance and PCB-induced errors." It looks so.- bogi

The author is using incorrect information and terminology. According to him all DAC chips convert DSD to (pseudo) PCM format. With direct DSD capable DAC chips it is not true. Some BB amd ROHM chips don't allow any other mode than direct DSD mode (and thus volume control is not possible in DSD...- bogi

It's simple. For most people incl. DAC developers DSD is DSD64 (since only such spec exists) or DSD is the content one can download or stream from streaming services. No official music content at 48k based DSD rates exists since no such standard exists. DSD production software (Pyramix...- bogi

You can use the same filter for 1x and Nx settings. I'm not sure if you already tried HQPlayer Client. It allows to switch filters and modulators on the fly (so the same track continues to play).- bogi

Yes, for my ears the only dfference with most recordings is that a bit more relaxed presentation with a bit more "air" by gauss-long. Just that there are recordings with fast sounds that reveal more precize character of the middle length gauss.- bogi

Technically, it may be the best HQPlayer filter among all. I experience no transient smear with that filter and it is not a short filter but a middle length one. For my ears it sounds cleaner than the default poly-sinc-gauss-long. Longer filters bring more "body" and "air" to sound and also more...- bogi

I am curious if that could cause the issue since you did not use input NAA. It is in effect only if you are playing from a remote input device - not when you are playing from files or streaming through network services (like Qobuz). Then, you didn't have any device selected for input NAA so this...- bogi

Check your settings in the advanced tab. Tick [x] Multicore DSP. Try with both Cuda offload fully ticked (like on my picture) and unticked. Both are tri-state checkboxes. Ticked is like on my picture. HQPlayer users usually use higher performance graphic cards. If the GPU is slower than the...- bogi

It's about frequency and phase response correction, something like room correction convolution filters, but for DAC. For each DAC different corrections are provided for different sample rates. See Jussi's (Miska) answers...- bogi

It rather looks like your computer is not optimized for high performance. I know people running i7-9th at DSD512. And my notebook (i7-11850H + RTX A2000) is capable of that too - with any modulator. Of course, long room correction filters/convolution can change the situation.- bogi

Many video players do support youtube links and allow to set video delay against audio. That way you can synchronize video with audio even when doing PCM to DSD upsampling. I am using PotPlayer on Windows for this.- bogi

That's why these options are present. :) Those super long filters are not necessary to fully enjoy HQPlayer. There is no such equation that longer the filter, better the sound. In frequency domain it may be the case but not in time domain, which is about transients. On Intel platform it helps...- bogi

What for file did you use? What length in seconds? Try an impulse or a short music passage with one strong transient. I would try higher sample rate input content. With 44.1k content you don't see the response at higher frequencies.- bogi

Please don't overestimate me. I am like you an amateur enthusiast. As I already wrote here I learned much form Jussi's posts and combined it with other sources. Mine D300 is also 1.0 and I am happy with it. It arrived to me as Black Friday order from hifi-express by coincidence with the oldest firmware. Later in comparison with v1.2 unit we found that 1.0 does support 48k DSD rates but units with newer firmware no more.- bogi
