Hi all! Long time no seen. I am having an issue with white noise (or pink or whatever) when playing Netflix or other movie streaming services on my iPad Mini Retina running the latest iOS and the latest Netflix app (latest of everything). Anyone experienced the same? It works like it...- nOtEcH

Nice impressions. I am curious about how it will work with a source like an iPad Mini or other iDevices.. do you have any at hand?- nOtEcH

I've never tested it, but I heard that the Mini Cooper is pretty fun to drive, and if it is super charged I guess that I would have loved it. Had a Golf GTI once and were driving like crasy.. drifting through turns way too fast.. was awsome.. but those days are gone.. I've grown up and am...- nOtEcH

I actually don't disagree with you. My point is that in my opinion when you reach a certain level of enjoyment it actually doesn't matter that much that you can find anything better. In an example.. I you have a sports car that can do 300 km/h and has an awesome acceleration.. it is not that...- nOtEcH

If it you would consider it better and you could afford it you would buy it.. am I right? If you add in convenience with portability it would be not that easy with math alone.. but it sure adds to the value of something like Hugo.- nOtEcH

I have also heard that the stress with electrical units is less while always on. Electrical units in general seems to break down while pressing the on button. I leave mine on and connected most of the time when I'm at home or at work. When out and about and not playing I turn it off. It may...- nOtEcH

I'm not sure if you are reffering to someone like me? ;) I couldn't agree more with your last statement.. and I earlier you had to pay a lot more to get there, and I never got there with any portable units / stacks. And therefore I consider the Hugo to be a giant killer. So in my opinion the...- nOtEcH

It would definetly be harder to pull the trigger and do a leap of faith if the Hugo should cost as much as $5000. But I find value to be hard to compare.. if you got a $8000 setup that is a few % better, and you could listen to it once a week and just a couple of hours, while with the Hugo you...- nOtEcH

I guess that i am the hole here, the a** kind of hole.. but no pun intended. I would think that the AK240 would manage better with harder to drive headphones, and make easier to drive headphones scale better.. better soundstage, control, dynamics etc. but I guess the sound signature would be...- nOtEcH

As I understand Al he says that it is ground breaking in the portable arena as well as in the desktop arena, as he doesn't know of any better portable DAC/AMP at any price point, and that nothing beats the Hugo at it's price point even on the desktop arena, and that it is amongst ( or better)...- nOtEcH

I wouldn't listen too much to critical voices (or to those who are praising a product). I would listen to the products myself after some research. And it sounds like you have done some? If you can afford a $7800 device it may not be so important for you.. but if you tried them all and found...- nOtEcH

Kudos to you. Al is not saying that the Hugo is 'bright'.. but more that when compared to other dacs and using nautral as a baseline a subtle difference will be described as 'warmer' or 'brighter', but he is NOT saying that the Hugo is bright like a piercing ear drum killer that gives you...- nOtEcH

I listen mostly to 16/44.1 but that is because that is what I mostly got. And Hugo make my 16/44.1 albums shine. I have not experimented a lot with high res but I find the recordings to be more important. Great recordings in 16/44.1 sounds a lot better than poor recordings in 24/192.. If the...- nOtEcH

I have also tried and didn't get much out of it before I tried some old recordings from the fifties where instruments were totally to the left or totally to the right. It worked and sounded a bit better.- nOtEcH

I'm glad you like your Hugo. We are not trying to justify our purchases.. just trying to spread the word, as everyone actually should experience this level of performance (IMO). The audiophile is a dying species, and has been for years.. my hope is that products like the Hugo could...- nOtEcH
