$300ish IEMs, SQ + ruggedness. Shure SE425 vs.....?

GOT EM. Amazon was trying to tell me they'd be here on Wednesday but I knew better. I know there's a whole thread devoted to these and how they sound with a billion reviews, so nobody needs to hear my two cents but I just thought I'd post my first impressions.. So far, it seems that everything...

$300ish IEMs, SQ + ruggedness. Shure SE425 vs.....?

Well I had a rough day and needed something to cheer me up, so I went ahead and sprung on the ONP's and should get them Monday.

$300ish IEMs, SQ + ruggedness. Shure SE425 vs.....?

Well, I did it. I resisted the urge to buy the Px's on Massdrop until it was over. Then they extended the drop another 24h. Still, I don't think I'll spring for them. I'm seeing a lot of comments saying the QC is not great, between the finish coming off in the first couple weeks and some of...

$300ish IEMs, SQ + ruggedness. Shure SE425 vs.....?

Well from the acclaim I see the P1's getting at $200, to get the same thing at $113 seems like it should be a no-brainer. And actually at 40ohms, they'll pair much better with my Audio Technica. But I'm fairly certain I'd enjoy the sound sig of the Oriveti's more. I guess if I hesitate until the...

$300ish IEMs, SQ + ruggedness. Shure SE425 vs.....?

Well like I said, I only planned on using an amp as a curiosity, but will be driving them pretty much exclusively from my iPhone. The only other thing that might be weird is that I also teach drums, and often will run a splitter with my students listening through ATM-50X's. Thinking the low...

$300ish IEMs, SQ + ruggedness. Shure SE425 vs.....?

Whoop nevermind, I sent them a message asking about it and they actually answer VERY quickly. Seems they are the same New Primacy, brand new and unopened. Apparently they are discontinuing the jet black finish at some point and so are running a promo price for the holidays. Makes them a little...

$300ish IEMs, SQ + ruggedness. Shure SE425 vs.....?

Oh well, that unfortunately rules them out ha. I wish I was a grown adult that took care of his things, but I tend to lean towards heavy handed. Unfortunately I don't think there's anyway for me to audition anything around me (Richmond VA if anyone knows of anything) so it'll have to be a blind...

    Cheap chinese eBay IEM cables?

Don't know if this should be in this forum or the cables/accessories one... I can't seem to find any discussions regarding, let alone information on, the slew of cheap eastern IEM cables that are on ebay and amazon. I see a lot of people raving about cheap chinese buds and how great they are...

$300ish IEMs, SQ + ruggedness. Shure SE425 vs.....?

Interesting, I never bothered to look at the UE900's because I always assumed they were in a higher price bracket. Did they used to be? I should also add (and they are obviously, but I was looking at massdrop and saw some interesting things) that this pair of IEM's needs to be readily available...

$300ish IEMs, SQ + ruggedness. Shure SE425 vs.....?

Oops...just spend the last 4 hours reading reviews on those New Primacys. They seem very nice, and actually sound like they might be pretty close to what I'm looking for sonically. I'll wait a little bit to see if anyone else throws another contender in the ring but they seem like they could fit...

$300ish IEMs, SQ + ruggedness. Shure SE425 vs.....?

I had my travel/drumming/running in-ears ($50 Fostex buds) break, and I'm looking for a replacement. I probably won't run in them though, I'll get a cheap pair for that. Anyway, years ago I had a pair of 425's, and I remember the sound as being very detailed and very mid forward, which is nice...

    Just ordered HD-600's, headphone noob

I have had two pairs of HD600's, one for about ten years, one brand new. When I got the new ones I realized how much the clamping force had lessened over time. The new ones fit very snug and tight, while the old ones, even in their smallest setting, would move and almost fall if I moved my head...

Strange problem - brand new Fostex IEMs cutting out when I play drums

Well the title pretty much sums it up, but to expand on that...   I got this pair of Fostex Te-03's last week, and since day one have been having a problem that I've never experienced with any other IEM or headphone: when I play drums, the audio is constantly cutting in and out, randomly in...

    Good/flat sounding IEMs for running

I decided to hang on to them, partly because logic dictates that when you get something better than what you paid for, you keep it, and partly because I had a nice shiny box in front of me and wanted to open it. And they're actually quite nice! The curve on them reminds me a little of my HD-600...

    Good/flat sounding IEMs for running

Got my Te-02WP's today, and they look good except for one small problem. They're the TE-03's. If I were to hazard a guess and since they're a discontinued item, I'd say the seller thought he had a pair, didn't, and sent these instead. On the fence as to whether I should say something or just...

    Good/flat sounding IEMs for running

Cool, just ordered a pair of the WP's, $25 shipped. Unfortunately in white, but hey...such is life. I thought about the Ostry's but I'm looking for something I can use for a while without worrying about breakage, and at double the price of the Fostex it's a bit iffy.

    Good/flat sounding IEMs for running

Occlusion! That's the word I was looking for! I'm resigned to having some but if there are some good vented buds to be had I would check them out. I did see the two designations and figured the N was newer since they're easier to find. I was leaning toward the WP's because of the impedance...

    Good/flat sounding IEMs for running

Thanks for the recommendation, I checked them out and they look like exactly what I'm looking for. They're not around on Amazon anymore but I found them around $30 elsewhere, still seems like a nice buy

Just realized this is in the wrong section, can a mod move it to the help forum? thanks

    Good/flat sounding IEMs for running

So I've searched around and there are already threads on this topic, but nothing that recent, and I'm looking for something somewhat specific. I know it's a bit silly to run with audiophile grade in-ears, but running with my Apple buds drives me crazy, as do a couple of my cheaper pairs. I guess...

Using basic DAC (a la Schiit Modi) with split output?

I did find this:       TC Electronic Level Pilot.  It looks like it would do the trick, but am I going to get noticeable signal loss with the array of adapters that I'll need? The XLR go right into the monitors, but before that I would have 2.5mm to RCA, RCA Split, then RCA to XLR...

Using basic DAC (a la Schiit Modi) with split output?

Ok here's my quandary (and it may be a simple simple solution, I just don't know):   Currently, the only thing pushing audio in my home studio is my Mac Pro.  I run the line out to my powered KRK monitors, and for my HD600s just use the headphone out on the front panel.  Volume adjusts from...

    Musician looking for IEM suggestions

Just thought I'd update this with the resolution:   4.ai's arrived today in perfect shape (thanks DRaven5494) with all proper accessories and even a couple extra tips.  These things sound fantastic, and are exactly what I've been looking for - Neutral, beautiful treble extension, detailed...
