AKG Q701 Burn In Volume Help Please

I'm no expert at this whole burn in shimmy, but slightly above your comfortable listening volume is the usual response around here.

Help me improve my DT 990 pro experience

There are so many conflicting opinions on the e10 with the 990.  Just listen to it yourself for a little while, if you like the way it sounds then stick with it.  But if you really feel like your itching to upgrade, maybe you can give the schiit magni a go.  More than enough to power the Beyers.

    HD650 and HE-400

The Lyr is pretty powerful.  From what I've gathered; the HE-400 scales with the amp.  The most powerful amp I have is the Asgard, so I can't really offer much personal advice on it, but some of the guys over in the HE-400 thread really like the HE-400 with the Lyr.   If the Lyr offers a...

"Mad Dog" by MrSpeakers, modified Fostex T50RP review

The pads are not as comfy as the pads on my dt990 and my q701.

    Best open headphone?

Out of the ones you listed, I would say the Q701 ;)   It fit's everything your looking for imo.

Looking for quick advice about Pro 990 250Ohm.

Your gonna get all kinds of opinions here, haha.  Trust me, I lurked around the forums for 2 years before making my account.  It's always better to try things out yourself.  Reading other people opinion will only get you so far.

Looking for quick advice about Pro 990 250Ohm.

Looking at the e10 specs now.  Definitely not ideal, though some may disagree.  Perhaps you'd be better off with a more powerful amp like the Magni and just holding off on a dac for now.  The sound of the dt990 properly amped without a dac will sound better than it poorly amped with a dac.  The...

Looking for quick advice about Pro 990 250Ohm.

In that case, probably get the e10 since it's an amp/dac in one.  I would say the e9, but it's only an amp.   Try doing a little reasearch on this topic, there are a lot of threads like this that you can find by simply searching google.

    Best open headphone?

You think you could help us out a little more than that?  What are you looking for in your bass, mids, treble, etc.  Do you care for isolation?  Do you own an amp?

Looking for quick advice about Pro 990 250Ohm.

Cant speak for the other two, but the dt990 sound right up your ally.  The only thing you may not like about it is the high treble.  I mostly use the dt990/250 for movies and gaming because of that.  As for an amp, whats your budget?

    Best open headphone?

I'd say the 225 or the 325, the 225 if the treble on the 325 is too much for you.

**Hifiman HE-400 Impressions and Discussion Thread**

I'm really considering the he500 over the lcd-2.  I'm not reay to spend that much on a headphone, haha.  I still got a long way to go until then.

**Hifiman HE-400 Impressions and Discussion Thread**

I'm thinking about narrowing down my little headphone collection I got going on at home.  Debating on either the he500 or just saving up for an lcd-2.  Super tempted at selling my denons... but I know thats not gonna happen any time soon, .

    HD650 and HE-400

The he-400 doesn't seem very picky in amping to me.  It sounds great off my asgard and my m-stage.  I actually enjoy the "warmer" sound of the m-stage at times, so I'm thinking about getting a tube amp to try out too.   Check out the he-400 thread if you haven't alrady.  If the bottle head...

    HD650 and HE-400

The he-400's are very fun and energetic to my ears.  I own the D5000, and the he-400 come close in bass enjoyment for me.  I'm actually enjoying them more and more so than my denons for edm tracks.    I find female vocals on them to be... pretty good, they are crisp and clear and on some...

    HD650 and HE-400

If you want sparkle in the treble, the he400 is going to beat the 650 in that department.  The bass on the HE-400 sounds better extended and accurate to me.  Vocals on the he400 sound clear, but there not as pleasing as the vocals on the 650.   So for edm, get the he-400.  It's more exciting...

    Sennheiser HD598 for gaming?

If you want immersion and good soundstage, I would suggest the dt990.  Great bass and bright treble will give you a very engaging sound while still being more than decent for competitive gaming.  if you don't have an amp, the I recommend the 32 ohm.

Open vs. Closed headphones (a moved question from my original thread)

Higher end headphones need a lot of power to drive them, which is why there meant for at home listening.  I don't know of any portable amps that can properly power a pair of HE-6 or an HD-800.   You typically need a big and poweful amp plugged into a wall outlet to do the job.  People generally...
