The best thing about this review is the honesty that comes across. Not overloaded with superlatives (which can be a bit tiring) but the main point comes through loud and clear - this is a really superb headphone amplifier! I am now itching to get the HD800! Thanks for the review. Fortunately no...- tigerkg13

Sorry, I don't know much about tube amps. but I do believe the upgrade in question refers to the capacitors. Whether the valve is included or not I can't be sure. In one sentence he talks about the capacitors and then refers to it in more detail as follows: 'The benefit of having the...- tigerkg13

Big thank yous to Painterspal, Project86 and Spudharris for helping me in making the decision to order one (the upgraded version). I really appreciate the time they took to reply to my PMs and this helped explain a lot of my queries. The unit is on the way at this very moment! As regards the hum...- tigerkg13

REVIEW: Grant Fidelity TubeDAC-11
Yes, those drum notes are there! It is not right at the beginning but 11 seconds into the song. If that's what you are referring to then I do hear them with the HE6. It's more distinct if I were to use the Emotiva to control the volume. It helps too if I were to increase the volume. Thanks again.- tigerkg13

REVIEW: Grant Fidelity TubeDAC-11
Thanks for the response. Now that you have confirmed it I will try it with different hphones (Denon AHD 7000 etc.). I thought the HE6 has great if not decent bass.I believe this is also the view of the author who compared the 50 flagships. Thanks again.- tigerkg13

REVIEW: Grant Fidelity TubeDAC-11
Thanks for the wonderful review of the Grant Fidelity Dac. Just one thing - you mentioned the distinct sound of the bass drums in the opening section of "Tears in Heaven". I don't hear any such thing with my headphones (!) - just Clapton's guitar. Am I missing it with my system ? - HE 6 with...- tigerkg13

Quote: Hi, on option no. 2 you suggested using the m903 for volume control. I wrote to Grace Design and this is their response - "You shouldn't have to make any specific changes to the m903's setup to use it as a dedicated DAC. I would recommend that you set the volume on...- tigerkg13

HE-500, LCD2, D5000, DT770, SR80, on a speaker amp (Emotiva mini-X A-100) Project
Thank you C Martens. I will carefully read the information you directed me to and see if it makes sense to me. On another matter - is there any risk of damage to the Grace Design M903 if I were to use the HE6 with it? My emotiva mini amp isn't here yet so I thought I would try it...- tigerkg13

HE-500, LCD2, D5000, DT770, SR80, on a speaker amp (Emotiva mini-X A-100) Project
Quote: Thanks. Would it affect my situation if I use the emotiva mini amp with the HE6 and the adapter (4wires to amp and the other side XLR terminated?). What if I use HE6 adaptor box or 4 wires to amp with 1/4" headphone jack adaptor? Thanks.- tigerkg13

Khaine 1711.Thanks a lot, very helpful advice. Yes, the pictures do help a lot. If I am brave enough I might even try to make one myself . . . Here in HI there is only one hifi store as far as I can tell and the person does not do custom jobs.- tigerkg13

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones
Very helpful advice. Another person who has this set-up also expressed some disappointment. He said the sound was "good" but once the resistors were added the amp. lost "considerable power." Talking about 70watts per channel amp. I have a Primare 20.1 Mk 2 lying around somewhere. Would be...- tigerkg13

HE-500, LCD2, D5000, DT770, SR80, on a speaker amp (Emotiva mini-X A-100) Project
I don't have the unit. Just one of the options being contemplated. Interesting to note the opinion of the Musical Fidelity DAC and Amp. Was on my sight too for a separate set-up. I usually like MF but maybe you are right the lower end stuff may not be as good.- tigerkg13

HE-500, LCD2, D5000, DT770, SR80, on a speaker amp (Emotiva mini-X A-100) Project
Preproman/Khaine 1711* appreciate the advice. Another piece of advice needed. I am not sure whether to use my m903 with the Musical Fidelity (see below) or with the Emotiva. The MF is obviously more expensive being a well-known brand. Preproman,* you know the Emotiva pretty well though you...- tigerkg13

You can use the m903 as a dedicated DAC to the a-100 mini. The mini already has a volume control - so i recommend using the volume control on the Emo. Appreciate your response. Very helpful. Is it necessary to use a separate DAC (like the m903) or can I just use...- tigerkg13
