    ATH-W1000X Thread!

bass is A LOT tighter. sound has less decay. it closes the "distance'-ey sound to your music. sometimes it makes it feel like singers are singing right next to your ear, or makes it sound like you're inside the instrument being played. bass is punchy as heck. low-mids have too much growl...

    ATH-W1000X Thread!

ideally, i would get another headset with faster bass/less echoey-ness for gaming. when there are a lot of things going on, (like gunfire and explosions happening at the same time) I don't think the W1000x will handle it too well. The 5.1 Razer headsets, Logitech, or Astro headsets aren't too...

http://www.head-fi.org/t/214363/w5000-fitz-mod-guide/120#post_2623971   Here it is. I've done all of the steps besides the small disk part. I left the 2 front squares open.

You can use some blu-tack to cover up the acoustic silk. I notice that this tames the brightness down by a notch. However, it also makes the bass a bit punchier (a bit too much for my taste) and gives you more of an 'upfront' presentation in the music. Try and see if you like it.

AKG "K267 TIËSTO" - Discussion, Impressions & Review Thread

When I had the 267, the hinge mechanism was cheap plastic. It felt flimsy and creaked everytime I turned or stretched the band to put them on my head. I dont think they sound 'fantastic'. They sounded decent-good. Good thing i decided to return them when i was able to.

JVC FX700 : How bad are the mids actually?

i dont think they're as bassy as many people exaggerate. They definitely dont have the bass of full sized headphones obviously. However, the bass is nice, punchy and extends low enough to pick up most if not all the details in a song.   overall, I am very impressed with them. The mids are...

Quote: you should take a look into the denon d2000 or the he-400 for electronic music. EDM and electronic sounds good on the woodies, but not as well as i'd like them to be. Usually I use my mad dogs for EDM because the bass is much faster and is less 'echo'-ey. If you listen solely to...

Quote: i bought them from buydig for 350 on ebay. i saw it, read reviews on it, bought it. simple as that. i fell in love with it right out of the box. these headphones sound way better than my mad dogs. the mids on these headphones are just so immersive, it's crazy.

you bought yours for $700? They actually go for under 400 now lol.   As for the headband, it can be a bit loose for some people. I find it extremely comfortable and snug.   By the way, why do you need to recable them?

Quote: Are you sure? From what I've heard, it brings out the mids even more than before. (According to fellow member Mercuttio.)   http://www.head-fi.org/t/544507/ath-w1000x-mods/30   And yes, I agree with solid states. I prefer solid state bass vs tube bass.

i used a mini-flathead to pry up both sides evenly and slowly until it comes out. This ensures that you won't damage the one already in there. By the way, I prefer warm and tight if you know what I mean. XD Curse my dirty mind.

yes, I have! I am still fairly new to describing sound with words. if you live in california, I'd be happy to let you try them out in a public location! unfortunately, i vaguely remember the sound of the old pads, but I know for sure it changed the sound dramatically. sound is less intimate than...

dubstep sounds fine on these cans. however, classical music is where these shine. timbre is pretty good. not only do u hear the instrument, you feel the sounds touch your ear, if you will.   EDIT: i have to admit, the bass isnt the fastest in this can, but I believe doing purin's mod helps a...

JVC FX700 : How bad are the mids actually?

I'm pretty set for the JVC's. Is it possible for me to run them on the FiiO e17? It says the max input power is 200 mW, but the E17 outputs 280mW @ 16ohms. :-/

JVC FX700 : How bad are the mids actually?

are the highs sibilant at all? if not, these might fit my bill. As long as the mids aren't terribly recessed.   EDIT: from what i hear, the RE272's are bass lean. :-(

JVC FX700 : How bad are the mids actually?

btw, how hot is the treble? i'm somewhat sensitive to sibilant highs. (i auditioned a pair of Ultrasone pro 900's, and it was a nightmare)

JVC FX700 : How bad are the mids actually?

well, natural sounding instruments is very important to me. If possible, can you guys recommend me an iem with good timbre, good bass extension, good soundstage, mids, clarity, detail, a bit soft on the treble, if that's not too much to ask for? XD

JVC FX700 : How bad are the mids actually?

I hear people complaining about the mids on the FX700's. How bad are they exactly?   I'm shopping for a new portable rig, and I want a sound that can replicate that of my Audio Technica W1000x's.   I'm a very big classical and electronic listener. I like juicy mids, very good timbre is a...
