Any anime series that you've been enjoying?
Quote: It is silly why someone would ask you a question like that. That's similar to saying you shouldn't watch an animated movie in HD; I should just buy DVDs instead of Blu-ray discs. The next time someone asks you that question, direct it back at them. "Wouldn't you want to watch...- leader

playing music through laptop compared to playing music through amp
Quote: I'm shopping around for headphones at the moment, so I only have a cheap pair. I'm considering the Sony ZX700/ZX701, Incase Sonic, and CAL! My source is an iPod, iPhone, and HP laptop. I don't listen to music every day (apart from in the movies), but I do try to watch a movie...- leader

playing music through laptop compared to playing music through amp
It is too expensive for me, but thanks for the suggestion. You're saying it is best to buy a DAC/headphone amp combo instead of separate hardware?- leader

How are you budgeting for the economy?
1. I am no longer subscribed to television service. 2. I carpool with friends or family. 3. I don't buy something unless I need it and find a really good deal. I don't do any of the above because of the state of the economy. I just like to save money.- leader

Making Head-Fi more accessible for newbies helps us all
Good points. I don't think new people want to spend time searching the forums. That is why they just make a thread and hope to get a discussion going. After they are satisfied, they tend not to post anymore. And, to be honest, I thought about doing the same. I would like to contribute to the...- leader

What book are you reading right now?
I just finished reading Game of Thrones. To those who haven't read it, nor have watched the television show, I recommend seeing the show first or watching it a few months after you read the novel (or series). I watched the first season of the TV series when it aired, decided to read the novel...- leader

How many songs do you have in your music library?
As I love movies and watch them often, I started collecting movie & television soundtracks last year. Therefore, I have around 1,200 instrumental tracks and 500 songs. I don't usually buy albums - just one or two songs that I like.- leader

EQ = sound quality?
When I listen to music or movies, the audio settings are default. I do think, though, the sound quality would be better if I adjusted the settings. I'll have to play around with the equalizer on the iPod, iPhone and laptop. For the iPod, for example, is there a general audio preference for the EQ?- leader

Does anyone know how to become a headphone engineer?
The best way to find out what to major in is to contact a few headphone manufacturers and ask if you can speak to knowledgeable people, like supervisors or engineers. They should be able to tell you how to become a headphone engineer. A "headphone engineer" can be considered an audio/sound...- leader

Looking for headphones/headset - $300-400 price range!
The headphones you currently use are optimized for gaming. I think the headphones mentioned above would be great choices, but I don't know if they would be suitable for FPS video games. There is no doubt that there will be excellent sound, but it might not give you the advantage in FPS games. I...- leader

Sony DR-ZX701IP. Truly similar to the Sony ZX700?
Hello Head-Fi community, I've been doing research on many headphones during the past week, and I have found that I've turned to this forum more often than not. I've looked at over 20 and narrowed down my selection to a few. As I truly do not have the capacity to discern the differences...- leader
