    Beyerdynamic Aventho Wireless

Now they're working again. I wonder if a little moisture got in there and now dried out.

    Beyerdynamic Aventho Wireless

They sound great, but unfortunately after a few weeks, the touch pad is pretty much dead. They will just swap me for a new pair, but I'm waiting until I get back from a trip I need them for next week.

Yes, they are expensive, but worth it to me for the sound quality, features and build quality.

I just got my pair about a week ago. Love them! Much better than the Beats I tried, very close to my wired T50P. Occasional brief dropouts on bluetooth, but nothing major. Expensive, but worth it in my opinion.

    Beyerdynamic Aventho Wireless

I just got my pair last night. Very easy to setup, went through the whole hearing test thing. Initially very impressed. Comfortable, sound great. Even my wife, who's not much of an audiophile thought they sounded better than any other wireless headphones she's tried.

Anyone buying a new Mac mini with ssd?

Actually the cool thing would be the Fusion drive. SSD and ATA HD with automatic switching between the two, acts like it's one drive.

I want to start converting my flac collection to apple lossless. Is there any mac software that does a good job?

XLD will work and it's free. Lossless is lossless, shouldn't change the sound quality.

What iPod/iPhone Dock is better than the Bose Sounddock Portable? $150-$500

Pure i20 dock ($80) into powered speakers would probably give you the best sound. It's the cheapest/easiest way to bypass the internal DAC in the idevice without jailbreaking it, as far as I know. The A5s mentioned above look nice, but at 25 lb/pr, not easy to carry around. The A2s at <7lb/pr...

transferring high quality audio files into iPhone

There are free apps that play flac, 8player lite and Aceplayer for example. The trick is getting the files into your phone, I don't know how to do that. I can stream from a DLNA server (on a laptop)  to my phone in high-res Flac though.

List of DACs that work with iPad

Thanks for your work on this Thraex. Now if the new iphone is capable of using an external DAC without powered hub or jailbreaking, it will be interesting to use the Seagate with that as a high-resolution portable player.

    beyerdynamic t50p

Well I couldn't resist. Had a "free" $200 gift certificate to Brookstone, so I bought a pair of T50ps for <$100 out of pocket. Got them yesterday, have to say I really like the sound so far, also very comfortable, nice and light.

iPad iPhone bit-perfect DLNA/UPnP wi-fi streaming 24bit or DSD files / high storage capacity / portability

Thraex, I certainly appreciate your work on this. Please keep me up to date with your findings. I'm particularly interested in seeing if the Seagate Satellite works well in conjunction with one of the flac players.

iPad iPhone bit-perfect DLNA/UPnP wi-fi streaming 24bit or DSD files / high storage capacity / portability

Was playing around last night with some of the free flac players. Was running LMS as a DLNA server and it was working quite well with 8player and AcePlayer Pro. Was not using an external DAC, so I can't confirm what bit rate was being used.  The Seagate Satellite GoFlex/ 8player combo would be...

iPad iPhone bit-perfect DLNA/UPnP wi-fi streaming 24bit or DSD files / high storage capacity / portability

Quote: Odd, I was able to download Aceplayer pro on my ipad for free, could then get in on my iphone for free.  Read through the manual for the Seagate Satellite, looks like a great portable solution in conjunction with flac player for an idevice. There have been mixed reviews on Amazon...

How good are your ears? (Telling FLAC from FLAC)

My favorite digital recordings to listen to are vinyl rips off a high-end system. I think some of it has to do with dynamic compression in modern CDs.

iPad iPhone bit-perfect DLNA/UPnP wi-fi streaming 24bit or DSD files / high storage capacity / portability

The $80 Pure i20 will do what you're asking. There's a long thread here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/529956/pure-i-20-ipod-iphone-dock-as-a-dac/390 I went through it and found this: -RESPONSE FROM PURE HELP CENTRE--- The i20 SPDIF signal is output from our DSP directly and then buffered...

iPad iPhone bit-perfect DLNA/UPnP wi-fi streaming 24bit or DSD files / high storage capacity / portability

Quote: Looking forward to hearing your results. I was playing around with it today, on both the iphone and ipad, but not with an external DAC. Except for some hiccups when synching with another player, it seemed to work fine.  I'm also thinking of using a Pure i20 dock as an option for...

iPad iPhone bit-perfect DLNA/UPnP wi-fi streaming 24bit or DSD files / high storage capacity / portability

ipeng should work. Just have to have a way to run LMS on the server. Then CCK into Dragonfly. Supposedly the DF can work with a powered hub on the ipad.      iPeng Goes Audiophile   With versions 1.5 (iPeng for iPhone) and 1.3 (iPeng for iPad), iPeng’s playback feature...

1000GB flac on-the-go successfully, streaming to iPhone/iPad/Android portables

You should be able to get hi-res (up to 24/96) USB output using LMS on the server end and ipeng with playback activated on the ipad, along with the CCK.

Logitech's Squeezebox Touch - opinions sought on quality

You don't really need the hardware. You can get the server software for free. Run ipeng on an ipad ($10) or iphone ($5) and activate the player software. Run that into a Pure i20 into a DAC and you're there.

Logitech's Squeezebox Touch - opinions sought on quality

No digital output, it's not even stereo. There's several threads on the slimdevices forums, with some good insider info. There will be other products coming out, but they can't talk about them. The new system doesn't stream directly from your server to the Touch, it has to go through the...
