Angled 3.5mm Jack plug - low-profile jack (as seen on Beats cable)

That's great!  That's a lot more 'low-profile' than the others.

Angled 3.5mm Jack plug - low-profile jack (as seen on Beats cable)

Interesting, so you're taking about modding the jack?!  Does anyone have any close-up picture of this to get a better understanding of how try this?   I'm not sure why they're aren't commercially available (very) low-profile jacks like with the Beats cable.  Perhaps this is because their...

    Soldering problems

Great, thanks for that info wakibaki!   It's interesting to know a cheap iron may get hotter than a temp-controlled one.   I think the tip is oxidised, so I'll look to clean it.  As you say, doesn't matter too much if I trash this iron as it's a cheapo. Yes! It does form balls.   The...

    Soldering problems

Firstly, I'm sorry if this sort of question has been asked before/well documented, but I thought a new thread would be ok.   I'm a novice Modder and haven't done much soldering.  I'm modding/recabling headphones and soldering plugs to wires.  The concept is all fine, but I'm still learning...

Angled 3.5mm Jack plug - low-profile jack (as seen on Beats cable)

Thanks Chipz.  That looks pretty good, but doesn't seem as 'low profile' as the one on the Beats cable - which fits flush with the bottom of the iPod.   I'm looking for a 3.5mill Jack plug which has the least potential of leverage. Standard 3.5 jacks have nearly 45mm of casing/plastic...

Angled 3.5mm Jack plug - low-profile jack (as seen on Beats cable)

Hi there, I wonder if you can help here.   I'm looking to create my own, single-sided, headphone cable (aiming to use either Mogami 2534 or 2893). What I'm looking for is a low-profile, angled 3.5mm jack as seen on the Beats Solo* cable, seen in the picture below - but I can't find...

    Mogami cables 2893 and 2534 - differences

Hi there, I know the Mogami 2893 and 2534 cables are popular for DIY/modifications.  The differences may be a well known fact, but I thought I'd post the response from Mogami UK incase it's useful: "The 2893 is a smaller diameter version of 2534, #26AWG rather than #24AWG conductors and...

[FIRST TIMER / NEWBIE] Headphone Recabling Supplies & Questions

Great! Thanks for those.   I think for convenience I'll stick to standard 3.5mm jacks.     Do you have any details about how to wire the mini jack (female) in the headphone housing?   For the single cable mod, I'm not 100% what should happen to the wires from the left headphone...

Suggestions for Closed headphones, with detachable cable

[FIRST TIMER / NEWBIE] Headphone Recabling Supplies & Questions

Hello.   I hope you don't mind me tacking onto this thread.   I've never re-cabled and haven't soldered in a long time, but am very keen to re-cable my Sennheiser 202s as one side is out.  Ideally I'd like to make the cable detachable, and better still one-sided detachable.  I see there...

Suggestions for Closed headphones, with detachable cable

Yeah I quite like the Shure 440s - the overall build quality does seem to be very good, but I've read/seen reviews which don't rate the sound quality that highly (eg http://www.whathifi.com/review/shure-srh440). The noise isolation is very good (based on this video review -...

Suggestions for Closed headphones, with detachable cable

Thanks for those.  Wow!, the Numark's look Sci-Fi.   I'm quite keen on the AKG K450's.  They are closed (when I've tested them in-store, they don't seem to leak much sound at higher volumes), and have a one-sided, detachable cable (albeit quite flimsy). Any other thoughts?

Suggestions for Closed headphones, with detachable cable

PS, I'm not really looking for active noise-cancelling, more 'noise isolating'.

Suggestions for Closed headphones, with detachable cable

Hi there,   I wonder if you can help here.  I'd be very grateful for some suggestions for some closed-back on or over ear headphones (ideally between £30 and £120) for portable use with an iPod.   I've had three pairs of Sennheiser 202 HD now.  They are excellent budget headphones...
