IIRC, the parts are not quite on par with the AK100, in terms of quantifiable performance metrics.  Reviews seem to echo this truth, as many have said that the X3 doesn't have the resolution of the AK100 and that listeners can hear it.  Whether this makes the AK100 worth the extra money is...

The FAQ in the first post suggests a price of around 400 dollars.  IIRC, the X5 is supposed to be comparable to other high resolution players like the AK100, the DX100, etc.
