Pictures of Your Portable Rig (part XVI)
Quote: LODs with built-in DACs... I can only imagine how expense the high-end cables will be! Quote: Thanks for the tip, I'll try double amping. But I must say, the adapter-DAC is surprisingly good for a $30 plastic bit.- Jaypops

Trying the Lightning to 30-pin adapter. It works like a charm, even though it looks terrible.- Jaypops

Yeah, basically what grokit and AyeCee said. Just get a wide enough split on the headband and these things will stay on pretty tight.- Jaypops

Any headphones worthwhile from London?
I'm often in London because of my job, and I've yet to find a proper (non-chain) hifi-shop that I like. The only good purchase I've made is the Etymotic ER-4PT for £140 at Terminal 5. They've got a decent amount of IEMs there.- Jaypops

Quote: As long as the instrument separation is good, I'm fine with the dac being neutral. Thanks :-)- Jaypops

Considering replacing the DM+ with a Bifrost (if only for matching looks). Have anyone compared the two?- Jaypops

Headphones you regretted buying the most
Bose Quiet Comfort 3 They're great for travelling (the ANC is superb), but the sound quality does not match the price.- Jaypops

My headphone guy is insisting that I try the Violectric V100 and V200. He should have them in stock (and also the HiFiMan EF6) by the end of the month, so I'll have to give them a listen. The Schiit amps look interesting, especially the Lyr. But then I would be compelled to buy the...- Jaypops

Thanks! I haven't really spent enough time with either the 500's or DM+ (both purchased in March), but first impressions are positive. They seem to play well together for now, but I think a dedicated headamp will find its way into the setup soon. The desk is actually a coffee table...- Jaypops

Favorite Jazz or Funk group?
Lately I've been listening to a lot of songs by Tower of Power. Perhaps more funk/soul than funk/jazz, but fun music nonetheless. -
First headphones after discovering Head-Fi
Discovered Head-fi last week and it hasn't been easy on my savings. Bought the HiFiMan HE-500 last thursday for 4900 NOK (approx 875 USD) after reading all the great reviews here. Unfortunately my DAC/amp isn't quite up to the task, so they have to be upgraded as well. Help!- Jaypops
