    crinacle's IEM Ranking List

Hello crinacle, Thank you for the awesome thread. Just wondering if you’ve listened to the Westone UM 50 Pro v2 before and what you think of it e.g where would it land in your rankings? Also I have been looking to try my first custom IEM and would like to get your recommendation if it’s not...

    $350CAD HERUS: Asynchronous USB Audio 2.0, 24bit 352.8Ks/S, DXD and DSD64/128, 2.4VRMS Headphone DAC

Yes there is some hiss with the UM Pro 30, I've mostly been listening to EDM lately so it's not a bother once the music is going. For music with longer and more frequent quiet passages though it might be a bother. If you have the chance it's best to audition them before committing.

    $350CAD HERUS: Asynchronous USB Audio 2.0, 24bit 352.8Ks/S, DXD and DSD64/128, 2.4VRMS Headphone DAC

Picture of my setup with iPhone 5 and Westone UM 30 Pro's. 1/4 inch to 3.5mm adapter is from what was included in the Yuin PK3 packaging.

    $350CAD HERUS: Asynchronous USB Audio 2.0, 24bit 352.8Ks/S, DXD and DSD64/128, 2.4VRMS Headphone DAC

I don't know if any of you guys believe in burn-in. It may be burn-in of the Herus or of my ears. Either way I've had the Herus for about 3 weeks now and at first I found the highs to be quite forward and peaky. Now the device seems much smoother in it's overall delivery of sound and I'm very...

Just got the Herus yesterday, does this unit benefit from burn-in?

    Blox earbuds Discussion (TM7, M2C, ANV3, BE3/BE5/BE7, B160/B320)

Cool thanks for the reply Danneq, I will look into those cases, especially if I buy a more expensive earphone.   So does anyone have any replies in regards to the sound quality of the TM7's? Need to read some reviews before I pull the trigger. Thanks!

    Blox earbuds Discussion (TM7, M2C, ANV3, BE3/BE5/BE7, B160/B320)

Quote:   Yes I used to use the earbud case that came with my Yuins all the time but one side would always lose signal without fail after 6 months. I was forced to switch over to a cheap pair of JVC Marshmellow earphones that I used everyday for about 1.5 years. Those earphones still work...

    Blox earbuds Discussion (TM7, M2C, ANV3, BE3/BE5/BE7, B160/B320)

I would love to hear some more feedback on these new earphones. I currently have the Blox M2C's after going through cables issues on more than a handfull of Yuin PK3's. How do these TM7's compare to the M2C's andPK1's?   As well how are the cables on these TM7's? This is probably my number 1...

    Westone UM3x and UM2 Upgrade

I loved the cables on my UM1's and UM2's but am intrigued by these detachable cables. It would open up opportunities in future cable upgrades as well. Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this, what would be the negatives of having detachable cables?

Missed out on an RSA Tomahawk :-(

I got my used Tomahawk from the classified section of head-fi a couple of months ago. After having this item for the short time so far I would suggest holding out for the item you really want. I think if you get something as a consolation to what you really want (within budget) you will only end...

How long do you plan to keep your amps?

Heys guys just wondering how long you plan to keep your amps when you buy them. My current portable is the RSA Tomahawk and I plan to keep it as long as possible as I believe the endless source of AAA's will easily allow this option. I was looking to purchase a RSA P-51 Mustang or Pico Slim...

    Portable amp/DAC for UE-10s

You could look into the Nuforce uDAC, it's relatively inexpensive however I don't have any experience with the UE10's. I was just wondering why would you restrict your budget to $200 considering the high cost of the UE10's. If I had such expensive IEM's I would make sure it was well sourced and...

    Yuin PK1-PK2 impressions thread

Currently running PK3's from a Sansa clip and RSA Tomahawk amp. The sound is very good to my ears and I prefer them to my Grado SR60's. Unfortunately I've been bitten by the upgrade bug and have my eyes set on a pair of PK1's. I was wondering if anyone could comment on whether the RSA...

Yet another exercise thread: PK3s ? dying

I believe PK3, PK2 and PK1 all have the same level of construction so I think you shouldn't consider PK2. I have had a few pairs of PK3's fail on me, still love the sound but average life expectancy for the few that I've had have been a 3-6 months.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Nuforce uDAC USB DAC AMP with line out and S/PDIF out

I think the max volume from computer is best but not sure about udac volume. I'm using about 50-75 volume. Anything above that sometimes causes clipping.

Oh that's a good point I should definitely look into having my clip rockboxed. As for my portable setup I had originally purchased the amp to try out with my home headphones but thought it would be nice to have a portable setup to allow me to enjoy my amp more. I guess it's true what they say...
