It was a pleasure to deal with Sal. Headphones were exactly as he described them. They arrived safe and very well packed. Everything went smoothly from the beginning.- trimer1

Canaima from Romulo Gallegos An insight of man's pursue of happiness and an elegant way of argument in favor of education. If I were wanting to become an electrical engineer would it be best if I got a BSEE degree?
I am an Electrical Engineer at Purdue and there is a chance you can take EE classes with the acoustical background you are seeking. That way if you decide to not follow Acoustical at the end of your bachelors you can still get a good job being an Electrical Engineer. This is one of the classes I...- trimer1

Purdue Acoustical engineering program is actually pretty good. They even have a recording studio and allocate free hours for students taking acoustical classes. I am electrical but have taken some acoustical classes for fun.- trimer1

You know you're an audiophile when...
Quote: In Yodobashi you have to ask the store guys to give you the amp you want to test and then you sit on a table and test it with a CD player or your portable music player. There are other shops like e-earphone where they have a wall of amplifiers where you can try any headphone they...- trimer1

WORST headphone you ever heard?
Quote: This is so true! When I had the chance to audition the Edition 8 I was really disappointed. I felt that it had strident high frequencies specially with the S sounds. Also they did not even fit on my ears, maybe they are to big for the headphone since I had to roll them to...- trimer1

WORST headphone you ever heard?
I really dislike Beats studio or solos, even skullcandy or cheap earbuds sound better. I normally bring my HD650 to school with a portable amp to study. One day one of my classmates came to the table I was with his new beats studio and told me "you should save some money and get headphones...- trimer1

Sell beats studios for AKG Q701's???? Other???
I would recommend you to get the AKG K550, they are adequate for the music you listen to, they are similarly priced to the beats and they are easy to carry. Plus they are closed headphones so they are basically portable- trimer1

Best $500 Headphones?
I am not sure about the PS3 since I dont own one but for a computer if you use a USB DAC to run the headphone amp, you can get a cheap USB ADC for a clip on mic and connect both perfectly- trimer1

Standby Switches - where are they?
I have used boost and buck converters in my amp designs with really good results, as you said the switching frequency is high enough that our ears would never notice the ripple. To bring slowly the B+ you can use a mosfet with some zenners and a capacitor in the gate- trimer1

Bizarre Coincidence...Old amp blows up the same day I start a new amp project!
You could also use a lm2596 based buck converter which will make you forget about heatsinking. Plus they are like 5 dls as a module- trimer1

DIY Audio Switch?
You could also use AXIOM signal relays, I have used them as delays for tube warmup times so the headphones dont get damaged and they have not deteriorated the sound. This way you only need a simple one pole rotary selector to as many relays you want.- trimer1

How can I fix this Amp Guitar In adapter? URGENT!
You can also solder the wires directly to where the adapter was connected so there will be no more plastic adapter in between, you can always disolder it if for whatever reason you need to take it out- trimer1

Impedance Adaptor - educate me
Since they are meant to be driven by portable devices it does not make sense that they have such low impedance as 2 or 4 ohms. They should normally have an impedance close to 16 ohms or more. If they were to have an impedance of like 4 ohms they would require a relatively high current that...- trimer1

Wanting to get started with some DIY amps
This is a really good site too http://www.amb.org/audio/ I am in no way related to them. Also if you plan to design your own PCB, Circuit Wizard is a good program for starters, you can make custom parts and it has automatic placement and routing.- trimer1

Budget Headphone Amp for AKG 271 MKII and Sennheiser HD600
Before finishing my own amp I used a Hifiman EF-2 with my HD650. People complain about the voltage gain and the harsh treble but after some tube rolling it actually sounds pretty good for the price. I tried Western Electrics, Valvo and Telefunken which for my ears are the best combo- trimer1
