Looking for best over-ear/closed back headphones, under 150$
I'm in the same boat as Rainicorn. I have some AKG K271 MKII's that I've had for a while but am not satisfied with the bass. I'm planning on selling them to finance a new pair. Price range and music choice/use are the same as Rainicorn. I was wondering if there was any news on new products as...- Sploosh67

SEATTLE MEET @ FRONT PANEL EXPRESS 1/21/2012
From what it sounds like we talk about/try on headphones? I've got some AKG K271 MKII's that could use some sharing :) never really done anything like this haha. But if you don't mind me tagging along, I'd love to go. How does this all play out/what exactly happens if you don't mind me asking?- Sploosh67

Beginning Headphone Amp (AKG K271 MKII and Grado SR80i)
Rokers definitely right on that. Decided I'm gonna get a JDS Labs Cmoy and a Fiio E10 :) although it seems everything I've learned so far has just gone completely downhill now that I find out about cables XDD this so ridiculous :P- Sploosh67

Ibasso D-Zero, Nuforce Icon, Fiio e7 or any other portable amp?
The D-zero should be perfect. Unless you want to do a portable amp, dac combo in which you'd have one at home and one portable.- Sploosh67

Portable though? I'm either looking for a one unit combo or two units, one being a DAC and one being a portable amp.- Sploosh67

Beginning Headphone Amp (AKG K271 MKII and Grado SR80i)
*Bump* would it be better to purchase something like the FIIO e11 for on the go and keep a an E10 at home or get an Ibasso D-Zero for it's DAC and portable amp? Or switch any of those to get the max sound quality for about $150?- Sploosh67

If I were to only purchase a portable USB DAC amp, would the Total Bithead get the job done well? What others would be above it's quality and sound?- Sploosh67

Speaker Upgrade Help
Meeeeeeh, $400 is pushing it. I'm really happy with what I'm reading about the CX5's especially since I've never been introduced to something of that high quality sound. And sounds good about the sub. Definitely saves money. Also, that's super legit that you used to enter those car competitions...- Sploosh67

Speaker Upgrade Help
If I were to purchase the M-Audio CX5's, would I also need to obtain a subwoofer or can they pump out a hefty enough and pleasing bass for someone who's going to be searching for it? The reviews I've read haven't answered that question.- Sploosh67

Speaker Upgrade Help
Why would the E10 benefit me? Is it better than the Aune? Read this review http://www.stereophile.com/standloudspeakers/1007inf/ and liking it. If I could roll with those, I think I'd be fine. And it's a good price. Nothing like the ARtist 3's, but better than Soundstick II's. Should I push...- Sploosh67

Soundcard vs. DAC
Alright, sorry. Just for some reason it feels like a computer would need one connected to it internally. At least in my mind. I guess I just wanted a direct answer...- Sploosh67

Soundcard vs. DAC
Well I plan on getting an Aune Mini USB DAC. My question is mainly on what is going on in the computer and does the computer /need/ a sound card to function or can I just hook up the DAC and listen to that with the computer completely lacking a sound card. I plan on building one soon as well so...- Sploosh67

Speaker Upgrade Help
Checked out the ADAM Artist, and thought it was really cool. However, I don't have $1,000 to spend. Or so the places I looked up sold them for that much. As for the USB DAC, why would the Aune no suffice? Why should I purchase, say the E10? It's not even out yet if that is correct. If it...- Sploosh67

Soundcard vs. DAC
SWEET! Thanks for the info :) totally answers my question and more :) if I was going to, say, build my own computer, therefore having to buy a sound card, could I just not and use a USB DAC? Or would I need per say a cheap one to get things working on the computer?- Sploosh67

Soundcard vs. DAC
So I was told that essentially what a usb DAC amp is going to do is bypass the soundcard. In my mind that essentially means the soundcard is, well, useless. So, if that's the case, is it still necessary to own one? If it is, would the quality/price/any factor matter to the sound produced through...- Sploosh67

Speaker Upgrade Help
So currently I'm running some Harman/Kardon Soundsticks II on my laptop. In the near future, I'll have an Aune Mini usb DAC. I'll also be making electronic music with these. I'd like to have both the speaker and headphone option as I'll be getting some headphones as well. I'm not sure how much...- Sploosh67

Headphone Recommendation (Over the Ear)
Check out Sennheiser's HD280's. That'll give you the bass you want in your music. I'm personally about to buy some AKG K271 MKII's which I have found to be some quite magnificent headphones but they seem to not have much bass or really degrade when not amped properly (which in your case were you...- Sploosh67

Sweet, thanks so much for the help :) I'm assuming these would all be acceptable for mixing/mastering/creating music. But that Aune just looks awesome with a great price. Totally eyeing that one. Once again, thanks :)- Sploosh67
