Senn HD600 amp suggestions
I'm getting back into the headphone arena after a long absence, mainly due to the downsizing of my living space. I currently have only the original ptp Soha I built years ago (before there were pcbs of them) and my AKG k240s and K240 cans. I will soon be taking possession of some HD600 senns in...- Blooze

Looking for ideas for this case.
I've acquired a defunct piece of equipment from my lab that I was going to throw out anyway and thought, why not make a simple little tube headamp with a DAC in it to put on my desk at work. Here is photo of the unit (not mine, but the same thing) and I've attached some rough measurements...- Blooze

Lone Star Audio Fest
I was finally able to secure a venue for this year. The fest will be held at Embassy Suites Dallas Park Central on June 19-21st. Please make your reservations as soon as possible to make sure you can secure a room on the same floor. Just mention at the time of making your reservation that you...- Blooze

LM337T question
Just wanting someone to check my thinking, please. I'm going to use a LM337T as a voltage regulator for the filament supply to a tube (12.6V/0.3A). I've got it regulating fine with the tube at 12.7V under load, but will be using a 24VDC power supply and this will be a large voltage to drop on...- Blooze

CMOY low voltage distortion.
Since this is the first time I've actually ran one of my CMOY's till the batts were really low, I wanted to verify that the voltages I'm seeing are about right. FWIW, it's just the std. Tangent layout with resistor dividers, no TLE, the 2132 opamp, and two 9V alkalines. Started hearing a little...- Blooze

Inexpensive durable flash player?
My sister-in-law was out over Easter and listened to my son's beat around RCA Lyra 256mb player ($40). Sounds like c*&^ to me through the headphone out, but listenable through a CMOY. I built her a CMOY amp (gain of 6) and she's looking for a 512mb or larger flash player. She's a non-techie and...- Blooze

Iriver imp-350 battery and firmware questions?
I picked up an imp-350 today and since this is the first thing I've used with rechargables except for my cell phone I was wondering if someone might help me out with how to best take care of the batteries. I see the remote has 3 settings on it -charge, discharge and charge, and quit. Could...- Blooze

CMOY case with battery compartment
My brother would like me to build him an amp he can use when riding his motorcycle when he's out on the highway (only time he listens-never in town). Says his Harley is just too loud to hear the little radio he has right now. Any suggestions on a sturdy case (so when he drops it )that has easy...- Blooze

Inexpensive PCDP for my SOHA amp.
I finished my SOHA amp (see build pics) and would like to put an inexpensive PCDP in front of it for living room use. Currently it's running a cheapo Emerson on it with a line out that actually sounds as good as some of my old discman's I used to have. But I would like to have MP3 capability...- Blooze

Verifying that Crossfeed works.
I built a point-2-point version of Jan Meier's Corda Cross 1 and was wanting to make sure that I'm checking operation somewhat correctly since this is my first experience with crossfeed. I put in some old Beatles music that I have on the CDP as I figure this is good material to test. I then...- Blooze

First DAP
Thanks first of all for a helpful correction of my terminology. Ok, I'm finally gonna get a DAP for myself after Xmas. I've got CMOY's I use from my computer at work and home, and a Millett for my CDP at home, so now I need something portable and I need an excuse to make a MINT. Some...- Blooze

CMOY power level indicator
My son (11 yr old) would like to have me build him a CMOY for Xmas this year. Every time one of his friends comes over he has to show them one of the ones I've made (it's coolness factor for him and he's a science freak). Is there a way to put some sort of indicator on the amp that would remind...- Blooze

AKG K240S recable.
Ok, the furniture in out house keeps getting rearranged and I'm needing a 15' cable for my AKG's. I am looking for opinions on what to make a new cable from as I haven't dealt with making cables before. One thing I like about the stock 10' cable is that it is flexible and not heavy enough to...- Blooze

Anyone built a Corda Cross 1?
Was looking into crossfeeds to build and thought that Jan's Cross 1 would be a nice passive to have. Looks like you can adjust it to varying impedance sources and such and vary the amount of crossfeed. I'm not looking for something that's portable, just home use. My only question about this...- Blooze

Crazy Music!
I don't know if this is the appropriate place to post this, but it does pertain to music in a way. In the last 6 months or so I've been listening to more classical music than I have in all the previous 36 years. Nothing "heavy" just easy to listen to Bach, Vivaldi, etc.... Anyway, my 7 year... -
Another Millet PS question.
I've got a 24V@650mA wall wart running into a TREAD for my PS. The wart unloaded measured just shy of 24V. By the time it gets through the TREAD and to the board it's reading right at 21.1V. The TREAD is adjusted for max voltage through from the wart. I've tried the bias on some 12FK6's that I...- Blooze

Hakko 936-12 tip question?
Ok, I'm slowing accumulating equipment and supplies to really dive into this hobby (made some CMOY's and working on a Millet), and am looking at finally getting a soldering station. I have decided on the Hakko 936-12, but have some questions about the tips. I plan on using this for headphone...- Blooze

My new headphone stand.
I always see a few posts pop up about stands now and then and thought I'd share this one I made in the evening over the last week. It is made of padauk and purpleheart with 8 coats of tung oil. Turned out OK I think?- Blooze

CMOY rebuild
I've been enjoying my first CMOY so far, but a couple of times the right channel will crackle and get loud enought to hear even with the volume control all the way down. Tracked it to the wire going to the headphone jack. My sh**** soldering job is coming back to haunt me with cold joints there...- Blooze

Noob P.A. question.
Ok, my wife told me she'd get me a set of Grado SR80's for our 11th anniversary so she didn't have to listen to my music in the evenings! I figured since I'll be getting my first set of "real" cans I might as well look into some sort of mp3 player as well. Well, to be honest I've never really...- Blooze

A/B switching?
I'm really ,really new to the whole idea of headphones and their separate amps (planning on getting a set of cans for my 11th anniversary in July and then building a millet hybrid). I was wondering if it's a good idea to build a unit that your inputs go into, then you can switch the output...- Blooze
