Tube Amp For AKG 501's
A combination that sounds very good is the AKG 501 and the grado headphone amplifier. It still does not match the bass of Sennheiser 600's but the overall balance is better.- hippo

EarMax Pro versus Berning micro-ZOTL
Has anybody compared these 2 units? I've read good reviews about the EarMax Pro, but the Berning micro-ZOTL's design intrigues me. The cans to be used with either of these, of course, are the Sennheiser 600's. Thanks.- hippo

Supreme's price
Does anyone know why the HeadRoom Supreme's cost went down to $399. I understand the old version was $449, and after all the tweaks they made to the product line, it would make sense to keep the old price ( unless of course they removed parts in the tweaking process ? ) Maybe this is a dumb...- hippo

MG Head's clones
Hi guys Reynman, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I live in the SouthWest, not in the Chicago area. But I will definetely follow bootman's advice and give the HeadRoom's guys a call. I've read good things about this amplifier. The other alternative is the Wheatfield 1 but it is...- hippo

MG Head's clones
Where is the upgraded MG Head available? I contacted a distributor of this product and he said the upgraded version has a tube cage and a detachable ac cord (cost: $325). He said he wasn't aware of any upgraded parts inside the amplifier. This is weird since Headwize's announcements page says...- hippo

MG Head And Grado RS1 owners READ THIS!
Here is a quote from an article describing the MG Head's performance with Grado cans, enjoy: "Sonics in direct hook up to a decent source are truly excellent. The sound is full-bodied, rich and muscular but avoids bloat and drag. It’s typical triode seduction without the common roll-off in...- hippo

Does anyone have any tips for soldering?
Hello guys When you solder it is important to have a good mechanical connection. If you don't have a good mechanical connection you can have cold joints and many other problems. One way to do it is to bend the leads of the component at a 45degree angle. That way the component does not move...- hippo
