Lunashops cable for HD 58x
Need to make a quick purchasing decision and looking to change my stock HD58X cable to a 3 metre, silver plated one with XLR 4 pole connectors. These Chinese Lunashops ones seem to be a good deal at around $70 each. Any suggestions for which one to go for appreciated :-)...- BrainFood

balanced interconnect recommendations up to around $100
Looking for a good-sounding balanced XLR to XLR lead for my JBL active monitors, because the studio cable I'm using at the moment isn't doing them justice. Budget is around $100 approx. Length can be anywhere from 3 meters to 6 meters. Any suggestions appreciated, especially for UK based...- BrainFood

RS-2i one channel cuts out.
Often goes dead on the left channel, but if I sharply tap my finger over the metal grill, the sound can return, albeit not fully. Moving the cable where it meets the left cup doesn't make any difference, so isn't a loose cable connection, afaict. How much is it going to cost to fix? ...- BrainFood

Grado 1/4" plug
I recently bought a cheapish headphone extension cable. Music sounds excellent through it but the plug and socket on either end are not the last word in quality. Anyhow, my RS2i plugged in is a bit loose and this results in crackle when I move around. I assumed it was the fault of the cheap...- BrainFood

Cans for Berning Micro Zotl?
I've only tried the amp with a pair of Senn HD-650. With them, I found the sound enjoyable but a little bit bloated at the bottom and veiled at the top. This was not surprising, as I had a similar result with a (long gone) Headamp GS-1. So, I'm basically looking for alternative cans. That...- BrainFood

More airy and open alternative to Senns for the GS-1
Hi I'm not getting on well with my 650/GS-1 combo. Specifically, its the 650 'veil' and bloat. Obviously, this is a purely personal thing because many don't find this an issue at all. Have tried removing the foam covering the drivers and loosening the cans to no avail, also after-market...- BrainFood

Sen 650 - Headamp GS-1- Compatible?
Hi I'm finding the combination of Headamp GS-1 and Sen 650 to be less than satisfactory. In comparison to my very cheap Sen HD 212 pro, the 650 appears almost narrow bandwidth and a little muffled-sounding. True, there is greater overall detail and spaciousness in the midrange but the lack...- BrainFood

Best Digital out connection
Apologies if this has been discussed before- have tried doing a search. Wondering what the best digital out connection between AD/DA Converter and computer soundcard is. Distance is about 2.5 metres (8 feet approx). The converter has three digital outputs- a combo ADAT/ Optical Toslink...- BrainFood

Using a 'flat' pre-amp (without RIAA) to record vinyl?
Hi http://www.enhancedaudio.com/newway.htm#riaa The above company is talking the talk about recording vinyl using a special phono pre-amp that doesnt apply RIAA equalisation and then later on using (their) software to apply a 'perfect' RIAA curve. So, wondering if anyone has tried doing it...- BrainFood

High quality vinyl recording confusion!
Hi everyone! Been sifting through previous posts and found some really helpful information but not exactly what I'm looking for. I am fortunate enough to own a fairly expensive high-end vinyl set up (SME 4 tonearm, Lyra Argo MC cartridge and good high mass record deck) and really want to get...- BrainFood

MPX3 and MPX3 Slam.
What is the difference between these 2 models? Is the 'Slam' a version of the MPX3 by Singlepower or by some other third party?- BrainFood

PCDP versus Laptop drive.
What is the consensus here about these 2 forms of sources? Which will sound best connected to a good head amp to be used at home? A quality PCDP, such a Sony, or a laptop drive, such as those in an i-book or powerbook. Or is there no particular difference?- BrainFood

Portable CD Player for Gilmore Amp.
Hello I was wondering if anyone could recommend a nice sounding personal CD player (walkman type) for using with my (soon to arrive) amp? I'm not really worried about price but an essential feature will be a Line Out. Even better, would be a 'RCA phono out' but I don't think any portables...- BrainFood
