New Releases 2013 - No Records Released Before 2013

Sooo technically it's a few weeks until it's released, but my answer is not going to change, so just pretend that I've posted this later.         EDIT: It seams like going out in style wasn't very long ago, dang those murphys keep busy! (also nice choice).

THE best female vocals? (your favorite female singers)

I went to go see Kaki King play, and she had Lady Lamb the Bee Keeper opening for her, someone that I had never heard before.  I was jaw-dropped shocked that she was able to silence a room of chatting half drunk people by opening with acapella.  I had never seen an opening act do that, and from...

    Songs with strings?

It's a guitar album, but kaki king's new album Glow features the Ethel string quartet through out it, and they do a really fantastic job of matching her guitar.  It's not Vivaldi, but maybe it could be something you would like?

Music, Where did you get it?

Ninety five percent of my music is on CD, A lot of it autographed, some vinyl as well, also autographed.  It's then ripped into iTunes and Matched to their songs.  It's funny that a year ago i couldn't see the benefit of iTunes match and was ripping to FLAC with EAC, now I'm one hundred percent...

    Who likes Atmosphere?

I don't really listen to him much, I'm not really sure why that is though, because everything that I've heard from him (old stuff) was really good.

    Impressive live videos

I love this performance because Tegan is so nervous performing a new song in front of the person she wrote it about for the first time.  It shows real emotion, and flaws, and nerves.

    Music that makes you cry?

There's only one song that makes me cry.  It's a beautiful song, but it's not the music that makes me emotional.  I only listen to it on the very worst of days, with some top shelf scotch.  So my strongest memories of pain, heartbreak, and anger are deeply tied to it now.  I can't listen to it...

What are you waiting to listen too?

Not pre-orderable yet, but Tegan and Sara have just recorded a new album, and Kaki King has started recording a new one, as well as the kickstarter funded albums by Five Iron Frenzy and Amanda Palmer

    The Basshead Club

I like to consider myself a basshead, but I don't really like bassy headphones much (kinda weird I know), but I get my bass in other ways.       So, can I still join the club?

I don't want to see a live show ever again.

I greatly prefer live music.  IMO music isn't supposed to sound perfect.  It's supposed to be musicians making music happen together, in one "take" for people, who are there seeing that happen.  You get to hear the musicians talk, tell embarrassing stories and stupid jokes, and see them sweat...

Where Do You Get Your Music From?

#1. Ebay (autographed) #2. Bullmoose music (gotta support local independent record stores) #3. The artist's own website. #4. Amazon, if I can't find it in one of the above places.   I used to rip to flac in foobar 2000, but now ever since i bought a macbook air i rip to AAC VBR in...

What does everyone want for christmas?

Thank you everyone for your sympathy.  I haven't been on this forum in a while. I didn't know that people would still be reading this thread.  I don't want to upset anyone, or to have anyone feel sorry for me.  My sister lost her battle with cancer on Febuary 11th in Sarasota Florida.  You may...

    Unpopular/Uncommon Musical Opinions

Quote: I think with that logic It would be hard to pick where to draw the line.  What about samplers and synths?     Would you consider a Nord Stage 2 an instrument? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqUECq8buxU   How about the Moog Guitar...

A short tune I made, tell me what you think.

I don't know if your thinking of maybe public restrooms, but most home bathrooms are small rooms with sheetrock walls, one chair (the throne), a big curtain, stacks of towels, and absurdly fluffy carpets (bath mats) and very little else.  Have you tried recording in the different rooms in your...

A short tune I made, tell me what you think.

There was a lot of white noise. I haven't used a blue snowball, but try turning down the gain and moving in a close as you can get, also, go download a real DAW http://www.reaper.fm/ (google "ReaGate" it's the included noise filter)     To be more serious without spending a whole ton of...

    Your Album of the Month

^ Just discovered fun a few weeks ago, really good sound going on.   Just watched K.Flay for the first time on LiveStream and was really impressed.  I know already that She's going to stay on my playlist after the honeymoon period is over, so my album of the month has to be "I stopped caring...

    Q701 impressions thread

I just lent my q701's to a friend in exchange for his 555's.  He had heard my q701's when they were brand new.  His first comment was wow, these have more bass then last time I heard them.  I thought that was awesome verification on the burn in.  The 555's are really nice too.

    Unpopular/Uncommon Musical Opinions

I think "Is this music?" when I hear Bjork, but after it stops I think "Hey what happened to the noises? I liked them."

    Unpopular/Uncommon Musical Opinions

DSOTM is boring   Piracy has been the best thing to happen to music since the blues.  It's put a good sized dent in the skull that was the insanity of 90's pop(insert sub genre here), now it's far easier to notice the really good bands who deserve the money.

    Favorite Film Scores

Shoot! I forgot Pirates of the Caribbean. I mean sure they reuse the same melody like twelve times, but it's still a really good one, and the scene with hoist the colors was epic. ohh and The nightmare before christmas, but that goes without saying.

apple lossless is only 10.3% of original audio?

Quote: You know, you mock, but I would buy those components if they were made and real effort were put into it, not just "contains Dr. Dre, smells like beats" type advertising.  This is why, my Case is decently quite now (LIAN LI PC-A71F), but I've got an old raptor HDD in there that...

    Are Beats Studio's worth $200?

I've owned the HDJ-1000's the first design, the ones that broke randomly for no good reason.  Very V shaped sound, big punchy bass and piercing twinkly highs.  The high notes are what made me buy them, the problem is after burn in they mellow out so the one thing they had really going for them...

My Gift To Bassheads! Can you top this song's extreme bass?

my #1 of all time ever best bass test song,    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49Uo0V1DNG8   Nothing new, I think it's actually a classic now.   and a nice fallback   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8RJ8UPrcRU   but headphones can't do these songs justice, actually most subs...
