Is 'New Posts' search limited to 100?
...and if so, why (and can it be changed)? Maybe I'm just missing the option to change it, but I looked in my user CP and can't seem to find a way to get more than 100 threads for any 'New Posts' search I do. There's no way that exactly 100 threads have been updated since my last visit! So...- Calanctus

Any experience with Opera Consonance Cyber 20?
I've done a search and found very little here. The Positive Feedback review is indeed very positive...the reviewer states that it outclassed his Earmax. Anyone heard one?- Calanctus

Review: Audio Magic Stealth power conditioner
I spent a couple of hours comparing the Audio Magic Stealth BII (cryoed) to the Monster HTS 1100. Based on what I've read on this board and elsewhere, the Monster unit has a pretty good reputation when compared to other products in its price range (around $200) and even to some more expensive...- Calanctus

Memory and age
A little good news about getting older: Quote: Young people are better at recalling details, according to the study. But seniors are just as good, and maybe even better, at putting their memories in the right context and adding perspective as they flesh out the details and create a...- Calanctus

Distortion and image collapse with SACD thru headphones?
SACD player owners, have you ever noticed that SACDs through your headphones suffer from the aforementioned distortion and image collapse? A post on Audiogon (http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/hi...ges/80361.html ) from a recording engineer (I think he's with Telarc) suggests that this can...- Calanctus

Ken Kessler in Hi Fi News December 2002 writes: Quote: [The KRF is] a fascinating toy for those who love the loonier side of audio...the RKV sounded simply fabulous...responsible for the best non-Stax ESL headphone playback I've ever heard. ... this is one sweet, sweet way to audition...- Calanctus

Binaural SACD available
SACD player owners, there's an SACD with binaurally recorded channels available: HECTOR BERLIOZ: Symphonie fantastique; Love Scene from Romeo et Juliette - Cincinnati Sym. Orch./Paavo Jarvi - Telarc SACD-60578. Here's a quotation from Audiophile Audition: Quote: If you want to hear...- Calanctus

Ethics again...tryout in stores, buy on the Net
Folks, I'd like your feedback on an ethical issue (more than one of these threads here today). I'm looking into buying some speakers. Naturally, I've done considerable research on the Net, trying to pick a set I will like. But reading other people's impressions is not the same as listening...- Calanctus

How much maintenance is required for tube amps?
I'm thinking of buying an amp for my phones (currently Beyerdynamic DT770s), and from what I've read, tube amps can provide the kind of sound I like (smooth, not too bright on treble, strong/tight bass). But I understand that the tubes need replacing every now and then, even if you don't 'roll'...- Calanctus
