Please help me solder this.
Hi, Just take your time and be careful. Use a very small soldering tip on a small circuit board iron. Also use very thin rosin core solder and do not allow the solder to "puddle up". If you have soldered 3.5mm plugs before you should be ok. If you go out and get the proper tools you will...- paulcorri

Cable protector
Another item some use is a vinyl rubber cement. This is flexible when hardened and comes in black or clear tubes for windshield seam repair. Rubber handle dip for coating metal plier handles can be brushed on and is an alternative.- paulcorri

Grado sr80i - Soldering part loose
These thin wires are difficult to solder, as you found out. Make sure wire is wrapped and tinned properly and aim for a very smooth joint. Radio Shack sells some nice thin solder for this purpose.- paulcorri

Where to get these rubber "things" to cover up the cable plug?
If you have already soldered your plug on, slice the heat shrink to enable you to put it in place. Then carefully heat with a match or lighter. Use a glue gun lightly to adhere if surfaces do not mend after cutting and heating.- paulcorri
