Audeze LCD-2 earpad ring support mod

Honestly, gluing the tips of the fazors on would be about as complex as gluing a cut off tip of a pyramid back on. It should be relatively easy - super easy if the top pieces were designed to have slight tabs on the bottom to notch into the channel of the fazors where the metal rod would sit...

Audeze LCD-2 earpad ring support mod

Interesting... I haven't been following the LCD changes (keeping up on stuff here is never good for the wallet), so I wasn't aware of the addition of the "fazors". They certainly seem to be easy enough to integrate into the pad side retention ring. Heck, they even lend themselves to magnetic...

Audeze LCD-2 earpad ring support mod

Well, I did a tweak to the design to make it useful without any adhesive ring to help keep the pads in place against gravity etc. Now paperclips (or any other sufficiently small ferrous metal rod) span the distance between the top and bottom standoffs. These are attracted to the magnetic field...

Audeze LCD-2 earpad ring support mod

Well, I've had my LCD-2's for what seems like forever now and the original adhesive rings keeping the earpads on eventually wore out allowing them to slide (and make an adhesive mess on the plate they attach to). Audeze sent me new ones upon request, but for whatever reason, the new ones never...

    New Audeze LCD3

Quote: New driver diaphragm, so it's probably an entirely new trace pattern, etc. How much of a difference does there really need to be to get a new model number? Just look at the HD 580/600/650s...

    New Audeze LCD3

Quote: It certainly wouldn't surprise me if that ends up being the case, but I hope it's $1500 or less. Not that I have any plans of upgrading right now anyhow, but $2K would put them squarely in the "probably never" category for me.

    New Audeze LCD3

Quote: Given their wording of "no compromises" and such, I'd be surprised if the LCD-3 don't make the LCD-2's look like a bargain. In the very least we're probably looking at an additional 30%.

    New Audeze LCD3

Quote: The jacks themselves are not angled in the LCD-2. The entry point is moved up the cup edge so they don't stick straight down, but the jack itself is still going straight out. Combine that with the fact that the offset angle is relatively low, and the mount + cable together stick...

    New Audeze LCD3

Quote: Not like the LCD-3's mounts... Unless you had some freak LCD-2.

    New Audeze LCD3

Biggest change ergonomically appears to be the angled XLR jacks... Should help the cable hitting the shoulder problem, but outside of that it looks like we're dealing with the typical LCD-2 fit issues.

Audez'e LCD-2 Owner Roll Call - list your serial number here!

Reordering the list to better reflect the fact that the 531xxxx serial number range is the latest production run... That and people tend to throw their number at the bottom, so it's more likely to keep sorted this way.   5597824 SemiAudiophile (new foam, preorder 5/10/10) 5597837 momomo6789...

    Something new from Audeze!!!

Assuming a planar magnetic microphone with the surface area the same size as the LCD-2s... The LCD-2 v2s were made using a "thinner and more reliable diaphragm material". A thinner, lighter diaphragm would be equally, if not more advantageous to a microphone than it is to a headphone. Perhaps...

    ** Confessions of a Failing Audiophile ** - I hated the LCD2

Nope, I haven't tried them. My last ear buds were the Audio Technica CM7ti, and my last IEMs were the UE Super.Fi 5. I only bought the IEMs for isolation purposes - and wouldn't wear them unless I absolutely needed that isolation. As far as ear buds go, I simply no longer have a need for them...

    ** Confessions of a Failing Audiophile ** - I hated the LCD2

The flaw in the logic only applies to you and people who are biologically like you. Some find glasses comfortable. Some do not. Some find contacts comfortable. Some do not. Some people like warm pillows. Some like cold. I could go on forever. You're not getting the fact that you are not the...

    ** Confessions of a Failing Audiophile ** - I hated the LCD2

Earbuds aren't weightless and require a certain amount of a seal to register any real bass. Combine the two things and you have a weight and contact on the inside of your ear that some people such as myself find rather uncomfortable. For you, the weight and clamp of full size are more of a...

    ** Confessions of a Failing Audiophile ** - I hated the LCD2

It doesn't really matter what the world in general caters to. There will always be niches that a company steps up to serve. So long as there is still a significant amount people that want something, there will be a business that caters to them - no matter how ridiculous their desires might be...

    ** Confessions of a Failing Audiophile ** - I hated the LCD2

Welcome to Head-Fi where dang near everything is exaggerated. While, I don't agree with a lot of what you say about the LCD-2, I wont argue with you. Headphones are a very personal thing, and what works for one person does not mean it will work for everybody. Comfort, HRTFs, and general...

AKG K702 sound degradation from plug + internal wiring?

Quote: I actually wasn't really focusing on the cable argument. I just saw comments like "the human ear can be better than any measuring equipment", and I have seen that viewpoint echoed a number of times by various people on differing threads. My curiosity finally got the better of...

AKG K702 sound degradation from plug + internal wiring?

Quote: Triangulating sound is totally possible, and we've even created devices that can triangulate the position of where a gun was shot, and even *what* gun it was. Ignoring the specific example, and going more on the theme - that's analyzing the recorded information. I already covered...

    Audeze LCD-2 Orthos

AKG K702 sound degradation from plug + internal wiring?

Do you people really think that the ear is more precise and resolving than modern technology? I can understand the belief that we can't properly translate all the data that we measure into how it affects what we hear, because that has a lot of truth to it. To believe the ear is actually superior...

    Audeze LCD-2 Orthos
