He500s finally arrived, Burn in question?

It's literally in jerg's sig, Hifiman Regrilling mod

He500s finally arrived, Burn in question?

EQ in a lot of respects have two die-hard groups (some also just lie in the middle): There are the purists that say you should not alter the sound in any way and those who are listening 'for fun' (Which you'd assume would make 90%+) who say why the hell not! Following on from my point...

He500s finally arrived, Burn in question?

Maybe this is a bit of a pretentious view but Audio is an 'Artistic Hobby'. Though not artistic in itself, you're learning to appreciate fine subtleties and nuances in an artistic creation... The difficulty in this is that, it is as much a learning/training process as a simple appreciation of...

London Meet - Saturday 27th April

Quote: Does this by any chance mean we'll see a pair of Heir Audio 4.Ais? I might have already pulled the trigger by that time but I really need to get hold of some universals and I'd love to have an audition with a portable rig or two, maybe even just some DAPs.

London Meet - Saturday 27th April

I will try my very best, I have work commitments on a Saturday (thankfully in London) although that may hinder my chance to bring much to the table. I'll see if I can get someone to transport SR-507/007 MKII or some maybe mix it up with some 'high end' Grados which have sadly seen little action...

What would YOU do with (guilt free) $15,000?

Funnily enough acoustic treating, dampening etc... was one of the first things I arranged after I was 'happy' with my system. I went to an audio festival many moons ago that displayed the effects of 'perfect dampening and positioning' and I always knew I was going to have a dedicated room for...

What would YOU do with (guilt free) $15,000?

As already noted the money will be going towards a speaker set-up but this is more for general interest, as far as headphone (or headphone related) purchases are concerned.

What would YOU do with (guilt free) $15,000?

I have to agree... As stated in my sig.

What would YOU do with (guilt free) $15,000?

Ahhh, everyone is playing it safe? Is this Head-Fi? A high end audio forum and people are saying they'd save the money...

What would YOU do with (guilt free) $15,000?

I still haven't managed to listen to the Blue Hawaii, though I have always heard very good things. As to the old Sr-007 MKI vs MKII vs SR-009... For me it falls to personal preference, I think the idea (and some people will hate me for this) of audiophilia has been left way back at the $1000...

What would YOU do with (guilt free) $15,000?

I'm financially stable and have no real concerns for the future, I have been told if I go back to University will be given £10,000 as a reward along with all the usual bumpf.   I'm a single man who's too 'self involved' (however you wish to put it) to put this kind of money towards a charity...

    AKG K550 - NEW!!

Quote: As we know with most things aimed at an ipod market they can still scale up massively with decent equipment. I imagine that's geared towards the 'i want to spend money on headphones because they're expensive and i don't want beats' crowd (probably the biggest market). No doubt...

    Headphone Sightings 2

Quote:   My partner is out and about right now in my SR-001/MK2, the only stax product I could imagine anyone wearing outside... But saying that i've worn RS1s and AKG 701 outside (both look ridiculous on).

The IEM/Portable Headphones Deal Alerts Thread - Closed! Use the Deals Thread III instead.

(UK) Hifiman RE262 ampcity £99 from £130 (probaby dropped more because of re272 rather than a deal but that's about £6/7 off standard price in the states and that's pretty good going) - Best value iem, (if you're a fan of mids) in my opinion.

SOMEONE HELP ME FIND/REMEMBER THIS SONG (very vague)

It's very embarrassing, i took the day off of work today because of this. Out of any song ever for me to forget/not recognise, James Taylor - Fire and and Rain.  One of the best of all time - Maybe emphasised by my two day manic search.

SOMEONE HELP ME FIND/REMEMBER THIS SONG (very vague)

Deep soothing male voice... *da da dum da dum da dummm* - "something on/to the ground" - (I realise useless) -stumble on the ground, crumble to the ground? I think it's in a film... While i realise the chances of the song being found are very minimal i like the sound of a soothing low male...

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

Quote: I just traded out my valhalla but it does match the DT-880 very well!  I wouldn't say it brought the midrange forward as much as many other OTLs but the balance, detail and sound-staging are just fantastic. I should be getting my 3rd pair of HD650s (ridiculous i know) sometime...

What does everyone want for christmas?

For children Santa knows if you've been good or bad. For audiophiles he knows your inner ear like the back of an elf and has a list of all your hi-fi needs and influences... That's what my partner tells me anyway :P Quote:

You know you're an audiophile when...

Apologies, I get wound up in all this stuff too often and have too little sleep - end up cynical. x2 on the classical. I think finding great music is like trying to get something out of a glass of water... Try and grasp it too fast and it'll just move further away from you gently ease into...

You know you're an audiophile when...

People getting all deep and 'indie' is possibly the most polar opposite of the stero-typical audiophile. Understanding of the world is perception not some deep hidden meaning behind things or puberty or whatever... There are amazing artists going through puberty even those that are deep...
