What do I need to make a theatre with Swan M200MK3 + Windows 7

I have another question, are the newer sound cards good enough to not need an amplifier?  I'd like to use my PC for everything and to drive my headphones (I have a Sony MDR CD3000 in there).

What do I need to make a theatre with Swan M200MK3 + Windows 7

OK so I managed to set up my Audioengine A2 speakers as my side speakers, so I have surround sound now :-)   So basically it looks like I can just go ahead and connect a subwoofer to the Sub port on the PC and I should be set? Can't see why other people have been having problems doing this...

What do I need to make a theatre with Swan M200MK3 + Windows 7

Hey folks, need some opinion on how to setup a theatre setting with my Swan desktop speakers.   I'm using Windows 8 with XMBC (greatest media player ever) as my software on a Core i5 system.   I'm not familiar with subwoofers, center speakers or rear speakers at all, but would really like...

    MDR cd-3000

Hey folks, haven't been here for a while as I've gone off head-fi-ing what seems like for good (I've moved onto photography now).   So, I still have the MDR CD3000 which I've barely used. I've kept it because it's such a collectors item and mine still looks like new.   How much would be...

What would be a good upgrade from Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers?

I have the Audioengine A2 and I love them, I didn't when I first got them because I was expecting "awesome and punchy".  It had to be broken in and it needs some equaliser adjustment to control the thick bass and make them tighter.  It does use Kevlar materials for its little subwoofer, that's...

    Keep my MDR CD3000?

I'm still on the fence with the CD3000, if I keep it then I'll just use it at most once a week.  It is far better than my other headsets, far better.  It's just a little fragile for an everyday headset IMO.   Also, I seem to be using my speakers a lot more than my headsets now, I love them!

    Melbourne head-fi 1st meet 2011

Sure no worries, if you can get the same person to give you a lift both way that would be better.  I'm not sure what time I'll be there but will probably be early as I have to leave early to pick up my other car by 5pm!   Quote:

Hi yes Yukari! I'm glad you've addressed me by my name :)   Well mrsamo is my username, please add me to the list of attendees.  I'm not sure how useful I'll be but I'll come anyway.   I'll bring my Cowon D2 if that's good enough for a source.   Quote:

    Keep my MDR CD3000?

What does NA mean?    What did you replace your CD3000 with?   I just found myself using the Phillips more and more mainly because it was just easier to use casually without worrying if it would break someday, plus I'm using it mainly to watch movies now.

Also, might be a silly question but why do people bring their laptops?  I thought the sound output wouldn't be as good as a proper sound system?

    Keep my MDR CD3000?

Thanks mate, I'm in Melbourne and have sent a PM to Yukari, it would be good to get a second opinion and whether I'm still in this game or not :)

    Melbourne head-fi 1st meet 2011

Hi Yukari I've sent you an e-mail.   I'm interested in attending this meet to get some second opinions about my headsets, might even bring my awesome little speakers.  I used to be a headphone enthusiast many years back but picked up photography so haven't really used my stuff for a while...

    Keep my MDR CD3000?

Hi folks,   Just weighing the option of selling off my MDR CD3000 which I bought many years ago and have rarely used it because of travel and it was quite expensive when I got it so didn't want to use it too much.  You can say its a display ornament right now :)   On the road I've been...
