Excellent write up. I too have Senn HD 650 Mobius. I agree about cable stiffness, but can live with it. I have always loved the sound but now you make me wonder weather to try the SD. I also have the Xcan V3 but modded with Panasonic caps etc as to this link here in the UK ...

I have the MF V3 and I took my valves out just to have a look at them then put them back so I dont think they ere soldered in I think thats a spoof to stop you messing. I would like to know where I can pick up better valves for mine here in the U.K. any advise Malky

Sorry for the confusion. THE cary is for sale here in the U.K. and I am considering buying it. I have sold the Musical Fidelity Trivista amp as I want the system to favour the headphone side as this is my prefered listening mode. If the cary will drive my JM LAB Micro Utopias reasonably well...
