I ordered a fiio e9 amp today and it will be my first real amp!

I have been looking at a pair of AKG K 242HD for $280 and a pair of AKG K701 for $258. I read that the search never ends said that the 701 did not sound good with poorly recorded and I listen to lossless on my zune HD. If anyone knows which is a better deal it would be greatly appreciated.

I bought the Diddy Beats because i had heard good things about them and about two weeks later I returned then because there was not a huge sound improvement over the skullcandy Holua. The skullcandy buds are not built as well but they have a great warrenty are are sub 100 buds.

I now use lossless files and with my fiio e5 the MTPG sound awesome and better than the studio

I have heard that the akg 242hd are great for rock and when you add a amp the bass picks up and the are all around great and I got my dad's old huge amp and I am going to make a diy amp so I think I am leaning towards that but I still want the 80i

Is there a big difference between the grados 325i and the 80i? Enough to jump up in price?
