    HiFiMan HE4XX

Just made a similar comment in the HE-560 thread but definitely check out Garage1217 Project Ember II for one of the best values on high-power tube amps out there. Lots of tuning options (impedence, bandwidth, gain) and hand built (or available as a DIY kit) with very high quality components. I...

I did a lot of research when upgrading from my Magni and am very happy with the Garage1217 Project Polaris. Lots of power, adjustable brightness and gain, and a very good deal. Might have gone with a Lyr if I had more money to spend but am very happy with the Polaris. If you want to go the tube...

Beautiful @E1DA! You'll need to explain what this does again (specs, components, etc) and let us know if you are going to be making/selling more of these!

Hello Fellow Hi-Fi-Men (and Women), Recently grabbed one of the HE-560s on sale at Adorama and I am upgrading my Schiit Magni 2 Uber to a Garage1217 Polaris since the HE-560s sound a bit thin and bright to me on the Schiit stack (will be replacing the Modi with a Topping D50 as well). Anyway...

New from Garage1217, the solid-state Project Polaris!

Howdy Pardners! I have a Polaris on its way as a birthday present which will replace my Magni 2 Uber (will be replacing the Modi 2 with a Topping D50 next but that's beside the point). I'm primarily upgrading to the Polaris because I recently picked up a HE-560 and wasn't happy with how bright...

I'm happy with the Brainwavz angled pads and this $23 replacement cable And I do prefer my M1060s overall (very similar signature but just better overall to my ears)

Monoprice Monolith M1060 and M560 Planar Headphones

I've had mine since X-Mas and I do hear shrillness on certain songs that I am guessing comes from reflections off the metal grill primarily and possibly the ear-side surfaces to a lesser extent. I know DMS found that removing the metal grills had the biggest impact on reducing the 5k peak in his...

Looking forward to your comparisons of the THX00 and HE400i! I was tempted to get the Fostex but ended up getting the 400i instead for $100 less. Haven't received it yet but so far I am thinking (hoping) I made the right choice for an upgrade to my modded T50rp!

Just listened to some Fostex T50RPs today... WOW!

BlueMonkeyFlyer can correct me but I believe the current "gold" standard for dyi mods are the DBV3 mods found on this page:   http://www.head-fi.org/t/618659/fostex-t50rp-incremental-mods-and-measurements   They are fairly straightforward and there are detailed step-by-step tutorials there...

The T50RP Paradox | reviews, discussion, & mini-tour impressions (index in second post)

Quote:   Paradox and MadDogs are both highly regarded proprietary for-profit mods of the Fostex T50RP. A popular "open source" alternative mod that has been compared favorably to those is the BMF DBV3 mod which has been developed through countless trials and errors by a head-fier called...

Quote: Thanks for posting that link here -- I would have missed it otherwise. I've been wondering if anyone had a chance to compare these three variations of mods. Nice to know the BMF DIY mods are right up there with the Paradox and MadDog proprietary mods. I had a feeling they were based...
