Recommendations for PC Audio (and replacing current sound card)

Once again, thank you for the suggestions! I have decided to try the Mayflower ARC MK2.While a lot of people agree that it's a **bit** more expensive than it should be, a lot of reviews to also mention that it's a fairly decent piece of equipment. It's both a DAC and Amp all in one, should be...

Recommendations for PC Audio (and replacing current sound card)

Thank you for the suggestion! Personally, I do really like how the DT990 sounds. Although I could sell it and go for something that's easier to drive (250Ohms?) A good DAC/AMP combo is what I'm looking into currently. As for Spatial Sound Card,it does sound good, although it seems to lack some...

Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (8/18/2022: iFi GO Blu Review Added)

Thank you very much for the reviews! I'm not usually very active on here, but I have to say that your review on the DT990s were the reason why I purchased them a while back. I've used Creative products for the longest time, I could even say that except for a brief foray with the Astro A50s...

Recommendations for PC Audio (and replacing current sound card)

As the title states, I'm looking for recommendations for my audio setup. PC's main purpose is gaming, with light movie/music on the side. Current Set-Up: Sound Card: Creative Ae-9 Headphones: Beyerdynamic DT990 Premium (600 Ohms) Somewhat cheap (but great) XLR microphone. Both mic and...

Need Advice: Audio Technica ATH-A900X - Creative ZxR built-in Amp, or Schiit Magni Amplifier?

Hey! Well, I got home and tried the headphones, and wow.... The others were definitely faulty. The volume on these is much higher than those (connecting the headphones directly to the cards headphone output, I can't push Windows volume past 10-20% without it being uncomfortable). On the other...

Need Advice: Audio Technica ATH-A900X - Creative ZxR built-in Amp, or Schiit Magni Amplifier?

Well, I have done some reading, and I think I am going to do the following:    Replace the buffer Opamps with the LME49710HA versions   Replace the I/V Opamps (HP-out Opamps) with the LME49720HA versions. They are dual Opamps, and apprently superior to the LM4562/LME49720NA versions.   ...

Need Advice: Audio Technica ATH-A900X - Creative ZxR built-in Amp, or Schiit Magni Amplifier?

Oh, I did not know any of that. Hmm, so disable all enhancements (for music at least), and just use good old stereo?    For gaming, I definitely want to keep SBX Studio on, for the surround effects.    Music gets a nice surround effect to it with SBX on as well, apparently.    What's your...

Need Advice: Audio Technica ATH-A900X - Creative ZxR built-in Amp, or Schiit Magni Amplifier?

Oooh going to have to try that stuff, haha. I bet it sounds amazing lol.    I am curious as to what setting to put my Frequency Crossover for bass on sound card. It says "set it to the lowest frequency your headphones support" which in my case its 5Hz. Sound card supports only down to 10Hz...

Need Advice: Audio Technica ATH-A900X - Creative ZxR built-in Amp, or Schiit Magni Amplifier?

Hmm, well, my card does not have any LM4562NA (which I know to be really good Opamps).    On my front channels, I have the LME49710NA as line outputs/front line outputs. (Which are supposedly fairly equivalent to the LM4562NA)   The JRC2114 are being used as Current to Voltage converters. ...

Need Advice: Audio Technica ATH-A900X - Creative ZxR built-in Amp, or Schiit Magni Amplifier?

I was curious about the Magni, but the headphones don't sound bad at all with the ZxR (on the contrary).  It might be my imagination, but these seem to sound even better than my Q701 which I had previously, even though these are new and the Q701s had about two years with me.    I am curious...

Need Advice: Audio Technica ATH-A900X - Creative ZxR built-in Amp, or Schiit Magni Amplifier?

Hey guys, I need a bit of advice on the title of this thread. I just purchased the ATH-A900x from Audio Technica, and I have the Creative ZxR sound card installed on my PC. I use the headphone out for the headphones, but I would be very interested in (possibly) getting more sound quality if...

Creative Sound Blaster ZxR - Which OP Amps affect Headphone output quality? (If any)

Hey guys,   I have become interested in experimenting with my ZxR and switching out some of the OP Amps. However, I very rarely (if ever) use my speakers, so I really don't care much for the sound quality on them.    Main use: Gaming  Main Output: Headphones (Audio Technica ATH-A900X)   ...

Audio Technica ATH-A900X and Creative ZxR - Will 600Ohm setting damage the headphones?

Hey guys, thank you for looking at my thread. I searched around for similar questions but had no luck finding any answers for my specific set of cans with my specific sound card, so here is the question: (quite simple, really)   Will setting the ZxR settings to the 600Ohm setting damage these...

FiiO E9K or Schiit Magni? (Already own the FiiO E9K)

Thank you very much for all your replies. I switched to the RCA outputs, and the slight hiss (its like a slightly hiss/pitched sound) still shows up at maximum volume.    The O2's knob has to be between 75-100% of the way to maximum volume for the sound to be noticeable.    At the most...

FiiO E9K or Schiit Magni? (Already own the FiiO E9K)

Hm, thank you for your suggestion :) Will use the lower gain switch.    I just tested putting all volume to max with both minimum and maximum gain, and at the very maximum volume (a bit earlier with the gain on max) there is a bit of static.    I am not sure if it would be interference...

FiiO E9K or Schiit Magni? (Already own the FiiO E9K)

RCA to mini? Hmm, would Radioshack maybe have such a cable?    Also, would using the RCA outputs on the card vs the headphone out outputs offer better fidelity?

FiiO E9K or Schiit Magni? (Already own the FiiO E9K)

Thank you very much for all your replies guys. In the end, I ended up getting the JDS Labs O2.  Interestingly enough, in the O2 I cannot use the RCA outs and instead have to use the Titanium HD headphone out.    I run my computer volume at 100% and control volume directly through the O2. ...

FiiO E9K or Schiit Magni? (Already own the FiiO E9K)

Thank you very much! I was concerned about sound quality, blah blah and all that (I am an audio noob, however I have very very good ears and can detect even the slightest difference in sound).  I kept hearing that the Schiit Magni this or that, but the E9K seems to have a pretty good...

FiiO E9K or Schiit Magni? (Already own the FiiO E9K)

I recently purchased a FiiO E9 in Amazon, and received the E9K instead (paid 88 bucks)   Someone mentioned the Schiit Magni amplifier, for $99 bucks.   My setup is:   Sound Card: Creative Titanium X-Fi HD Headphones: AKG Q701 Main purpose: Gaming   The question is simple...

Can't use headphone-out, and instead have to use RCA: Should I be concerned about SQ?

Thank you very much! I didn't know that I should've been using the regular outputs instead of the headphone out.   I purchased the FiiO because I read that it's quite good for the price, plus I'm unable to afford a higher quality desktop amp at this time.   Perhaps sometime in the...

Can't use headphone-out, and instead have to use RCA: Should I be concerned about SQ?

I recently purchased the E9 at Amazon to power my AKG Q701, but instead I received the E9K. The E9K does not have the 3.5mm input on the back, so I am using the right/left channels on the back of my soundcard instead of the dedicated headphone out.   Sound Card: Titanium X-FI HD  ...

Purchased AKG Q701 - is my Amp enough for them?

Ended up purchasing the FiiO E9. Can't really afford any higher upgrades right now. Would the E9 desktop amp be good for the Q701? Got it for 88 bucks at amazon.

Purchased AKG Q701 - is my Amp enough for them?

Well, that's all that really concerned me, haha :) I will be upgrading my amplifier sometime in the future, but as long as I am "better off" right now, that's good for me currently. Now, can't wait until they arrive! Saturday can't be here fast enough.   More opinions are quite welcome...

Purchased AKG Q701 - is my Amp enough for them?

Thank you again! That's all I was concerned about. As long as they sound better than my PC350s (which mind you I have read aren't exactly the cream of the crop, but it's what I am used to) then it's perfectly fine with me.   Since I am a gamer, I am looking for sound clarity, and definition...
