I just noticed something on my HE-400. My left can seems a little flimsily built than my right - the pleather isnt put in precisely so the side bit that holds the pleather onto the can is a little uneven - and the air hole thing outside creak if i press into it, whereas my right can does...

I think at this stage I'm probably not looking for another open bassy can - I'd probably hop to a Denon if I ever get bored of my Hifiman.

There's plenty of meat in the bass. The mid-bass is a bit more prominent than the sub-bass (e.g. incredible for music like deadmau5, good for music like clubroot) but that's probably because it's difficult to be a Denon while being an open can.

I just received my HE-400! Out of the box (the cans r much bigger than I expected!) it sounds very impressive. I was expecting a bassy sound signature at first, but after listening I realised that the can's forte seems to be more towards the mids than anything - what clarity! So much so that...

That's so tempting... The only personal issue I really have with those is their heaviness/comfort/presentation - the three things that the Pro 2900 should trump it in, but at the same time I've heard so many lavishing praises for the HE-400's sound...

Has anyone listened to both these and the Ultrasones Pro 2900? I know comparisons have been made with Ultrasones in general but I don't think many were referring to PRO 2900s in particular, and I'm really struggling to decide between the two!

Hey guys, serious predicament here. So I've been looking for bassy cans to run my dub-music on (while still being perfectly capable of running other types of music!) I would get after selling my HD-598, and I've narrowed down my list to three cans: the pro 2900s, the HE400s and the D5000s. ...

Is the HE400 balanced enough to run other types of music? I did hear those cans being a bit dark. Also could either of you compare the HE400s with the Ultrasone Pro 2900s? (or 900s since the drivers seem to be the same)

Marveaux I'm just looking at your sig and wondering, how does the HE400 perform in this regard?  Also I thought the HFI-2400's impedance was low enough to be run without...?
