New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

I just noticed something on my HE-400. My left can seems a little flimsily built than my right - the pleather isnt put in precisely so the side bit that holds the pleather onto the can is a little uneven - and the air hole thing outside creak if i press into it, whereas my right can does...

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

$400 is absolutely worth it imo. With its weight, its polished look, and its strong drivers, these headphones really feel like a heavy duty luxury car! In a way though that's kinda proving to be somewhat of a nuisance for me - I'm almost reluctant to use it, the same way someone would be...

    Ultrasone Pro 2900 Thread

I think at this stage I'm probably not looking for another open bassy can - I'd probably hop to a Denon if I ever get bored of my Hifiman.

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

There's plenty of meat in the bass. The mid-bass is a bit more prominent than the sub-bass (e.g. incredible for music like deadmau5, good for music like clubroot) but that's probably because it's difficult to be a Denon while being an open can.

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

Quote:   I'm running it with an Echo Indigo external sound card. Just two hours in now and I feel like the bass is a little better, but it could (and most likely is) be placebo.     I'd pretty much agree with you there. I got this thinking it'd be a bassy improvement to my...

    Ultrasone Pro 2900 Thread

I had the longest debate between this and HE-400 and eventually got the HE-400s, but I'll always be wistfully wondering whether the Pro 2900s might have had the more satisfying bass. And musing over the fact that the Pros would've been more presentable/portable than my HE-400s. The grass is...

    Echo Indigo VS Fiio E10

Question as stated in the op. Has anyone heard both devices and could perhaps compare the qualities of the DAC?

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

I just received my HE-400! Out of the box (the cans r much bigger than I expected!) it sounds very impressive. I was expecting a bassy sound signature at first, but after listening I realised that the can's forte seems to be more towards the mids than anything - what clarity! So much so that...

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

I have a question about the amping on this. I understand that this needs an amp (well, relatively speaking), but does it also need a dac?

    Ultrasone Pro 2900 Thread

Hey guys, Is the Pro 2900s massive on the mid-bass just like the Pro 900s? Hoping that since its a open can it'll have more extension down the bottom..

Ultrasone Pro 2900 VS Hifiman HE-400 VS Denon D5000 - Bassy headphones

Thanks, But look, if I wasn't "indecisive", I wouldn't need to create a thread now would I!  Its just that the D5000 reviews are so so full of praise-the-lord worship - I'm human after all

Ultrasone Pro 2900 VS Hifiman HE-400 VS Denon D5000 - Bassy headphones

The only fear I have with Denons is their closed-ness - I can't stress how much I don't want to go back to the days of the HD-25s when I felt super isolated from everyone - even the slightest bit, really. I'd instantly get the Denons if they were exceptionally open (for a closed can) for the...

Ultrasone Pro 2900 VS Hifiman HE-400 VS Denon D5000 - Bassy headphones

That's so tempting... The only personal issue I really have with those is their heaviness/comfort/presentation - the three things that the Pro 2900 should trump it in, but at the same time I've heard so many lavishing praises for the HE-400's sound...

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

Has anyone listened to both these and the Ultrasones Pro 2900? I know comparisons have been made with Ultrasones in general but I don't think many were referring to PRO 2900s in particular, and I'm really struggling to decide between the two!

Ultrasone Pro 2900 VS Hifiman HE-400 VS Denon D5000 - Bassy headphones

Hey guys, serious predicament here. So I've been looking for bassy cans to run my dub-music on (while still being perfectly capable of running other types of music!) I would get after selling my HD-598, and I've narrowed down my list to three cans: the pro 2900s, the HE400s and the D5000s. ...

Open unamped headphones with decent bass for around $200?

Is the HE400 balanced enough to run other types of music? I did hear those cans being a bit dark. Also could either of you compare the HE400s with the Ultrasone Pro 2900s? (or 900s since the drivers seem to be the same)

Open unamped headphones with decent bass for around $200?

Marveaux I'm just looking at your sig and wondering, how does the HE400 perform in this regard?  Also I thought the HFI-2400's impedance was low enough to be run without...?
