    Ety MC5

After hearing MC5 some for several more hours, the sound is growing on me. And, it certainly has more bass than er6i - even unamped I can feel the difference on several tracks. Still undecided between MC5 and S4, but MC5 seem like a great choice too.

    Ety MC5

@slaters: perhaps I spoke too soon. I have been listening to MC5 for several hours, and am quite liking them too. And yes, they do not sound anemic in the bass, but the bass is less than S4. But I am still liking them - they do sound a little cleaner than S4. Ah, decisions decisions!

    Ety MC5

I am not an audiophile and was only shopping around to see which earphones work out the best for me. Coming from Ety er6i and loving them for three years, I was convinced that S4 were not for me. I bought S4 only on a whim because of the great return policy at Best Buy.   Now, having tried...

    Ety MC5

csokane - I agree that there may be improvements in MC5's quality with burn in. However, I do not expect the sound signature to change enough for me even after the burn in.   In terms of clarity and detail - The only difference I can hear is that S4 has more bass, so it sounds a little...

    Ety MC5

I got my ER MC5 today. And, to put it mildly, I am not overwhelmed by them. The bass on MC5 is certainly thinner than S4. When I amp them with FiiO E5, the bass is better (more quantity), but not as much in quantity as S4. It may be that I am a bass head (despite having loved my er6i for three...

    klipsch S4, Fiio E5, Ety MC5, Ety er6i

@NegativeAtheist: I do not know if burning in made a lot of difference in sound quality for S4 or not. It may be that I just got used to the sound signature. However, I have seen posts on this forum that burning in S4 at a slightly higher volume that you would usually listen them at helps...

    klipsch S4, Fiio E5, Ety MC5, Ety er6i

Some of this is probably obvious to the more experienced folks here, but I would like to share my impressions anyhow for anyone who is relative novice like me.   I am working with limited budget and am currently in the process of selecting betwen Klipsch S4 and Ety MC5 (awaiting arrival)...

Klipsch Custom 3 at $109 - good value?

Thank you all. I think I have answers here. I travel a lot and cannot baby my earphones too much. Also, I don't think this remain such a good deal at this price if I have to either spend another $100 or so for remolding or if it is likely to break in less than a year.   As an aside, my er6i...

Klipsch Custom 3 at $109 - good value?

@jleewach  How does one get them remolded? How much does that cost? Also, I see that you own S4 and h5 as well. How would you compare them with Custom 3?

Klipsch Custom 3 at $109 - good value?

Thanks knube, Zarim.   Zarim - I owned er6i for three years and loved them. In between, I tried (just a few tracks at a store) SE530, but couldn't justify spending so much extra on them after doing A/B with my er6i. And now, after listening to S4 on some of the tracks, I can really feel the...

Klipsch Custom 3 at $109 - good value?

I have seen a few posts on Klipsch Custom 3 here, but I cannot make out if they're good value at $109 or not. I am aware of the cable issue with them, but in temrs of sound, they seem to get rated along side TF-10, SE530 and some of other more expensive phones.   I owner ER6i, and am looking...

    Ety MC5

Eagerly waiting for my MC5 to arrive now. Also ordered Fiio E5 to see if the (cheap) amp makes any difference. :)   Meanwhile, been listening to S4 a lot. Love them on some tracks (some of my newer collection with pulsating music) - er6i just didn't have the bass to do justice to those...

    Ety MC5

Thanks slaters70. I ordered MC5 today and plan to compare them with S4 after burning them both in. S4 has improved a lot after about 24 hours of burn in. I am still finding the bass a little overwhelming and am missing the clarity of Etys. It will be interesting to see how S4 and MC5 play out.

Veritus - I am also planning to move from Er6i to MC5. Would love to know your impressions about how they compare.

    Klipsch S4 muddy?

I bought S4 last night on a whim. Haven't burnt them in much yet, but coming from Ety ER6i, I thought S4 was extremely muddy initially. One some of the softer tracks, I sorely miss the clarity. On some of the other tracks, though, I was amazed by the quantity bass and what I was missing...

    Ety MC5

@Slaters70 - How would you compare MC5 with Klipsch S4? On a whim, I bought S4 from a local Best Buy last night - wanted to test them out myself. Coming from Er6i, my first reaction was "muddy"! I was on the verge of returning them after hearing S4 in the parking lot, but with a few different...

    Ety MC5

Slaters70, stevenswall - I am seriously thinking of getting MC5. And, now that I am able to save a bit with the lower price (over HF5), would getting FiiO 5 help as an amp? I do like the idea of a slightly warmer sound on MC5.

    Ety HF5 worth extra $$$ over er6i?

@KnightK - I keep hearing that HF5 and er4 have similar sound signature. What make er4 trounce hf5 for you?   @slaters70 - Thank you. I have beel following your other thread too and it seems like MC5 might just be what I need. I am trying to understanding if they're an upgrade over er6i...

    Ety MC5

Thanks for this thread. I am trying to decide between er6i, hf5 and mc5. I had er6i and quite liked the sound signature there. From the posts above, I am still not clear if mc5 have similar clarity as er6i with better bass.   Also, I am thinking of DBA-02 - How are DBA-02 different from mc5...

    Ety HF5 worth extra $$$ over er6i?

Thanks Inks and bcpk. I didn't know about MC5 until you pointed out. I saw one post with some initial impressions about MC5 and will wait till I hear some more feedback about them. They look promising. Thanks.

    Ety HF5 worth extra $$$ over er6i?

Hello,   I am planning to replace my er6i that broke after three years of great service. Ety HF5 seems a good option and from all I have read on this forum, HF5 seem to be closer to erp4 and have slightly better bass than er6i.   I was quite happy with the sound signature of er6i though...

    Replacement for Ety er6i

Thank you all for responding. I travel a lot and would like good noise isolation, so it seems like it will be er6i again for me. I might wait a few months to see if the price for hf5 comes down to around 100. I haven't been able to make out if these a enough of a difference between er6i and hf5...

    Replacement for Ety er6i

Ok, so I did some research on this forum and amazon. I have narrowed down to the following and am leaning toward RE0. Any thoughts or suggestions?   1. Etymotic er6i 2. UE Super.fi 3 3. RE0 4. Klipsch IMAGE S4   Thanks.

    Replacement for Ety er6i

Hello,   I am looking for a replacement for Ety er6i that broke after about 3 years. Overall, I really liked er6i for the clarity of sound, though I found them to be lacking in bass sometimes (only ocassionally).   Here is what I am looking for:   1. Good clean sound quality -...
