Rank the AKGs
Well, i think all of the open AKG's can sound smooth and transparent from the low to the high registers, if they are fed with neutral low output impedance amp. They definitely need good damping in the higher registers if you want nice transparent sound, this also produces a little more laid...- Lewzke

Meier-Audio CORDA Aria
I was using 3 month with the gain modification but i reverted back to the original gain, it is more comfortable for long session listening AND i think pairs well for forward sounding headphones, like the K401.- Lewzke

What makes an Audiophile
That is true, sometimes i forget the music and i just concentrate on the sound quality. That is okay, but silly if you always do it. Create a good sounding chain with critical listening then forget the equipment, enjoy the music you love.- Lewzke

Review by 'Lewzke' on item 'Ultimate Ears super.fi 3 Studio - Headphones ( in-ear ear-bud ) - black'
I use these IEM's at work and during travel, it's very easy to transport with the small metal case. It was difficult to achieve the good isolation, i tried 10+ pair of silicon cushions and i finally got one which fits perfectly into my ears. These are very sensitive IEM's, if you hate source...- Lewzke

Wow! Nice collection. Can you make a small comparison between the flagship K812 and the old K501/K400 models? I never heard the K812.- Lewzke

The sound signature is very pad condition dependent. When i had old deformed pads, my ears were closer to the driver and the sound was harsh and boomy, the soundstage was horrible. I simply washed the pads with my hands and i've got back the initial pad form, completely changed the sound to...- Lewzke

well it depends on paired headphone, probably you paired with high sensitivity headphones and the amp's gain is too high for them- Lewzke

Yeah, they are good cans but don't expect punchy bass from them. The K401 has more bass impact/energy and little bit less refined highs and mids. That is the tradeoff between clarity and bass. I love them because of the musicality, they sound like expensive audiophile speakers without...- Lewzke

I've got the K501 and K401 and i love them. Definitely the very best purchase i've ever made: 80 USD for K501, and 28 USD for K401 (both from aftermarket). I use the K401 for rock, trip-hop and the K501 for classical, acoustical audiophile records. The old AKG's just rock!- Lewzke

Review by 'Lewzke' on item 'AKG K401'
These headphones are very similar to the K501. They do similar natural, analytical sound, however they have different flawor. The K401 have little bit more impact on the bass and have little more body, but they dont have the refined euphonic upper-mid-high K501 flawor. The K401 is more...- Lewzke

Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones Part II
I have a friend who can be described as a tipical subwoofer/amp DIY-er, Magnat woofer lover. He listened my setup and the first reaction was : " This sounds clear but nothing special, you need a woofer to sound better" lol- Lewzke

Meier-Audio CORDA Aria
I know this is an old thread but i really want to post my experience whit Aria. (Sorry for my english) I bought this piece of art at 2011 and i was happy whit this amp/DAC combo, but a had few problems with itself. The first problem was the built in DAC low sound volume compared to my E-MU 0404...- Lewzke

DACMagic Plus Impressions
I had an Audigy SE with WM8768 DAC and i loved that sound signature, it was warm and punchy with good extension both ends. I really wonder if these Cambridge DACs do the same sound signature with much better clarity and transparency. My Corda Aria's PCM2704 is good but tends to be a little dry...- Lewzke

An Absolutely Amazing Headphone Album! - Head-Fi TV, Episode 006
I have the same experience with K501, the soundstage is totally 3 dimensional and open without being too huge or "far away". The Chesky Records is legend, I like their records but this binaural recording is more enjoyable through headphones.- Lewzke

Review by 'Lewzke' on item 'Creative Labs SB0570L4 Sound Blaster Audigy SE Sound Card'
It isn't audiophile card, but sounds good for casual music listening and gaming... enjoyable mids, highs seems a bit unreal for me (harsh, unfocused) , but the bass is full and punchy ... Low cost enjoyable card with Wolfson DAC : great value.- Lewzke

Review by 'Lewzke' on item 'AKG K501'
Setup: EMU 0404 -> Corda Aria -> K501 (ver. 1.0) This headphone is ideal for acoustic and classical music. I love the airy character of the sound that makes lively. Great for quality live records. Overall detail is very good especially on the midrange. The bass is punchy and full with a...- Lewzke
