I definitely have a different opinion. Adding an external amp to the TT2 means you're further away from the source signal so audio resolution will always suffer doing that. If the TT2 has enough power to drive what you're using, there is no reason to add an external amp. FWIW, TT2 has plenty...

Note that Rob Watts has stated if something digital sound darker when making a change, it's more accurate to the analog signal. If something seems to make the sound brighter, it's just adding things like noise or jitter.

Supra Excalibur is still my favorite after a couple of years. No need to spend any more. The normal Supra is also excellent.

As a former owner of the LCD-2, LCD-3, LCD-4z and current owner of the LCD-5, those improvements are huge.

Which model are you referring to? The new style on the LCD-5 is fine, helped also by the fact that it's an overall lighter headphone than prior LCDs.

interesting that it's the Sony interactive arm. I think they just want gaming headphones? I sure hope they don't kill off the audiophile headphones! i think they may kill those models and just do gaming ones because it's Sony Interactive buying, not Sony itself. Just my speculation though.
