Does the gapless functionality work well? Stereophile's John Atkinson reported that gapless performance seemed nearly flawless.

Based on the last 4 days, it seems so - I didn't encounter any gapless issues.
In general, the system seems to have little issues.
The one aspect of the DAP that I cannot discuss at length is the ability to use it for streaming, as I use it 99% of the time for files dowlaoded to the internal memory and external microSD.

What sort of issues? Also, I was wondering: how does the general user experience compare to the QP1R?

What I refer to is that the OS is pretty reliable - very little cases of downtime.
The QP1R is an outdated OS, which on its own, is something I find negative, and in addition I had hard time updating the music library.

I don't suppose you're interested in testing the iBasso DX200? I'd love to see a direct comparison between the three DAPs.

I certainly hope not, as before I bought my M2 late last year I asked the question of whether it was due to be replaced and I was told no............

An AR representative reported in this thread that AR plans to release a major firmware update to coincide with the upcoming audio show in Munich. He wrote that the updated firmware would be "announced" in mid-May.

M200 is a new affordable player. M2 and M20 not being replaced. More news from AR-Voice at some point I hope

Yes, Tidal can handle offline content in a SD card. I have a 128GB memory and is almost full of music; curiously is not giving me mayor issues but my brother phone on iOS and my wife on Android do have some crashes every now and then (using internal memory)...
