Thanks KG Jag. I know the SRH840 is the best of the group, but I was initially considering under $100, possibly under $80, but I've been increasing my budget slightly because I just want to get a good pair the first time around. Is there any significant improvement in durability or warranty by...- zonedout245

Hello, everyone, I'm interested in purchasing the Shure SRH440 ($85) [Or possibly Shure SRH840 ($150) if the extra dough is worth it]. I'd like to compare the Shures to others that have been recommended by this forum: CAD Audio MH310 ($63), Creative Aurvana Live! ($95), Koss ProDJ100...- zonedout245

Thank you, imackler. That's not something I want to get into the hang of, but since I want to spend the most money I've ever spent on headphones and I'm having trouble deciding between different styles, it seems convenient to try out more than a pair before I commit to one.- zonedout245

Since I was having trouble choosing headphones, someone here recommended me to order more than one pair of headphones from amazon, then return the ones I don't like. How does that work? Is that normally what's done when ordering online? Is there usually a return shipping cost associated? Thanks.- zonedout245

No rapping. I usually record electric guitar straight into a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB interface. I process with various VST plugins, including amp simulators. I actually don't pay too much attention to mixing, although I should. I focus more on sound design. For my purposes, any sound leaking...- zonedout245

Thank you, 50an6xy06r6n. I will definitely consider those models. I'll have to go into a store and test out the basic acoustic differences between open and closed headphones, just to know what I'm dealing with.- zonedout245

Thanks for your quick replies drtturnip and Xinze. It looks like I'll have to consider this for more time. I usually have to do a lot of research before deciding on any purchase, with proportion to expected cost. Do you think that for my uses I should go with a larger style? I have used earbuds...- zonedout245

I am looking for some headphones (like many here) and have filled out this list: Music genres: Electronic (IDM, Jungle), Jazz, Alternative. I enjoy solo instrument music as well. I do not care too much about vocals, since most of what I listen to is instrumental (excepting the...- zonedout245

review: Focusrite Saffire 6 USB
Thank you. That's good. I don't really care too much about the headphone since I'll be using speakers; I care more about the sound when it's recorded, which from the review I expect should be good. I'm planning on recording electric guitar directly in and using modeling. Thank you for your response.- zonedout245

review: Focusrite Saffire 6 USB
Quote: Hi, what do you mean by better suited for rock and metal. I'm thinking about getting this unit, but I want to play a lot of clean. I like Jazz music and blues, but after I get an interface I might record with more gain since my sound will be cleaner. Is it the character of the...- zonedout245
