Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (8/18/2022: iFi GO Blu Review Added)
when it the TAC coming out? I sure hope to see some comparison's to the Mixamp. I'm fine with my mixamp, tried TB mixers before, but would always like to see something beat out the mixamp at some point.- themunce

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
I know an amp is pretty much over kill for the headphones, but what about a DAC? I think that's mainly what I'm trying to get at. How much would a DAC help a headphone out? Say, if I went from my onboard Macbook audio to a Bifrost, which of course would then require me to have an amp, but you...- themunce

This Schiit is Bananas! $99 Schiit Magni Amp and $99 Modi DAC
The question should be this. Does a pair of headphones that requires an amp/dac to drive sound better than a pair of headphones that does not? If it does, what are the reasons behind those headphones sounding better?- themunce

Looking at HD598's but have AD700s
Took a minute for my ears to adjust, but they are all around more balanced than the AD700s. More bass, while toning down the highs and mids, which were over powering on the AD700s and now hurt my ears at the same volume, which is great for competition FPS like CSGO. I listened to different music...- themunce

This Schiit is Bananas! $99 Schiit Magni Amp and $99 Modi DAC
If you get a Magni/modi stack, you wouldn't need the AV receiver. Optical sends the digital signal out to something, in this case being your Yamaha receiver, where it is converted into analog to be played by your headphones. The modi would take it's place, converting the digital signal to analog...- themunce

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Well be sure to let us know what you think. I'm thinking my onboard DAC just doesn't do these headphones justice the way I want. I had a Titanium HD sound card awhile back that was a lot nicer than anything I have now, so I don't see why an external dedicated DAC and AMP wouldn't be better than it.- themunce

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
I just got my X1's in. Immediately threw the stock cable back in the box, as it was making static in my music. Used the media bridge cable and crisis averted. I will give it time to "burn in." I can say right now, get a different cable when you order them. The X1s obviously have better bass than...- themunce
